Johannes J. Britz

As provost and vice chancellor for Academic Affairs, Johannes Britz is UWM’s chief academic officer. He served as the dean of the School of Information Studies from 2005 to 2010 and was interim dean of the College of Health Sciences in 2008-09. Britz’s research interests are in social justice and information poverty, particularly in Africa. He holds two doctoral degrees from the University of Pretoria in South Africa and is co-editor of the International Review of Information Ethics (IRIE).

Patricia A. Borger

Patricia A. Borger oversees UWM’s efforts to raise private support from individuals, foundations, and corporations. She also manages the university’s alumni relations team, which partners with the UWM Alumni Association to provide programming and services to help alumni stay connected with UWM, the association, and each other. Borger currently leads the university’s $200 million comprehensive campaign, Made in Milwaukee–Shaping the World. Prior to joining UWM in 2008, Borger held positions as an attorney with Keating, Muething & Klekamp PLL, a 100+ firm in Cincinnati, and assistant vice president at the University of Cincinnati Foundation. Trained as a classical pianist, she directed the Preparatory Department at the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music for more than 10 years.

Katie Miota

As the chief enrollment officer, Katie Miota oversees the functions of Undergraduate Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar, Student Success Center, Career Planning & Resource Center and Trio/Pre-College within the Division of Enrollment Management. Miota brings more than a decade of experience to the position, including service as director of the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. She previously worked on student recruitment from the school and college perspective within UWM’s Peck School of the Arts. Miota’s vast knowledge of UWM and enrollment management contribute to her impressive ability to oversee the successful recruitment, retention and graduation of UWM students.

Robin Van Harpen

As the vice chancellor for Finance and Administrative Affairs and Chief Business Officer, Robin Van Harpen is responsible for UWM’s finances and oversees a number of administrative units that keep the university running, including financial services, budget, procurement, facilities, campus planning, transportation services, safety/risk management, human resources, IT, police and legal. An attorney, she served as UWM’s chief legal counsel from 2004 to 2012. Prior to joining UWM in 2001, Van Harpen worked for the Milwaukee law firm von Briesen & Roper, s.c., practicing school law. She earned her law degree from the University of Minnesota Law School.

Joan Prince

As vice chancellor for Global Inclusion & Engagement, Joan Prince strengthens UWM’s ties to the community and helps maintain a supportive and welcoming campus climate for people from all backgrounds. In 2012, President Barack Obama appointed Prince as an alternate representative to the 67th General Assembly of the United Nations, with the honorary rank of ambassador. In that role, she represented the United States in dealing with UN committees and organizations such as UNESCO and UNICEF; delivered statements on U.S. policy; and engaged other diplomats and advisors in discussions on global issues.

Kelly Haag

Haag leads a diverse team responsible for supporting students in a division that includes Athletics, the Dean of Students Office, University Housing, University Recreation, the UWM Student Union, Norris Health Center, Retail Services, Children’s Learning Center, and various student life areas. She worked for many years in University Housing and served as its director from 2011 until her appointment as chief student affairs officer in January 2018. Her notable accomplishments include implementation of UWM’s living learning community program and the university’s inclusive housing policy.

Tom Luljak

As vice chancellor for University Relations and Communications, Tom Luljak directs the university’s marketing, public relations and neighborhood relations initiatives. He also serves as UWM’s chief lobbyist, representing the university’s interests in the state capitol and Washington, D.C. Luljak has served as an associate lecturer in UWM’s Department of Journalism Advertising & Media Studies, teaching corporate communications and sports marketing. He began his career as a broadcast journalist, serving as news director for WTMJ-TV, WTMJ-AM and WKTI-FM. His numerous broadcast journalism awards include the George Foster Peabody Award for Investigative Journalism. Today, he can still be heard on WUWM, where he hosts the radio program UWM Today.
