An epidemiologist, Simanek can explain why the flu vaccine varies in effectiveness from year to year and why people need a new flu shot every year. She can also talk about why there are new recommendations for children to receive two doses of this year’s vaccine, as well what conditions would increase the likelihood of an outbreak of pandemic flu.
