Kaspersky Internet Security 2015

An activation code is a unique set of characters that comes in 4 blocks of 5, separated by a hyphen (-). Each block comprises of 5 characters which can be a combination of letters and numbers, which comes to a total of 20 characters (XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX-XXXXX). An activation code is required for activation of the commercial version of Kaspersky Internet Security 2015.

If the application was purchased as a retail box

If you have purchased a boxed version of Kaspersky Internet Security 2015, you will see the activation code on the activation card that comes in the box.

If the application was purchased online

If you have purchased Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 via the eStore, the activation code will be sent to the e-mail address you specified when placing the order.

You can activate Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 by the following methods:

1. Activate trial version . The Activation Wizard will download and install a key file which is 30 days valid. Your computer must be connected to the Internet to activate the product. Trial version is fully-functioning; however, when a trial period expires, the antivirus databases will not be updated . See the articles below to know more about trial version activation:

 If the option Activate trial version is not available, it means the trial version was already installed or is installed now. 

2. Activate commercial version . Enter a 20-digit activation code to activate the product. Your computer must be connected to the Internet to activate the product. Enter an activation code from the keyboard using Latin symbols ONLY (pay attention, the letters "L", "I", "O" and the digit "0" are not used in activation codes).

Once the product is activated, the license number (not the activation code) is displayed in the Licensing window. Remember that a product can be activated with an activation code, that is why it is important that you retain it (we recommend adding it to your Kaspersky Account).

An unused activation code can be activated at any time, but the license will begin to expire on the day of initial activation. The license validity period is calculated since the first activation (once an activation code is activated on any of the computers). 

This information does not refer to promotional trial activation codes. The validity period of such activation codes is restricted.

Commercial license expiration

When a commercial activation code expires (this type of code is valid for a year or more), Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 will continue working with restrictions (for example, the Parental Control  and Safe Money  components will stop functioning), and and will not update databases . The application will continue to disinfect infected objects / filter spam, but with the databases which were downloaded on the last day of your activation code validity.

Even if you manage to download the databases manually and try to install these to the product, Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 will stop functioning. 

You cannot prolong the license validity period of a commercial activation code by adding a trial activation code. No trial activation code can be added to the product once a commercial activation code was installed.

Trial license expiration

When a trial activation code expires (a trial activation code is valid for one month), Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 stops functioning (protection will be disabled and the databases will not be updated).  

You cannot install two or more trial activation codes on your computer concurrently or in turn; the validity period of another trial activation code will not overlap or prolong the license validity period of the first trial code.

 

What to do after the license expires

To restore the product functionality after your activation code expires, add a new commercial activation code to the product. You do not have to reinstall the application.

To know the license expiration date, do the following:

1. Open Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 .
2. In the lower right part of the window, the information about the remaining days is displayed, for example, License: 155 days remaining).

To view detailed license information, do the following:

1. Open Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 .
2. In the lower right corner of the main application window, click License.

3. The Licensing window contains the information about license expiration date and remaining days.  
4. Number , License type , Activation date , and Expiration date can be found in the License information window. To open the License information window, click the license number in the Licensing window.

If an active license for Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 has not expired yet, then if you activate a new license, remaining days of your current license will be lost. You will not be able to use the remaining days of your current license on the computer.

When switching to Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 from Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2015  or  Kaspersky PURE 3.0 , the validity period of the old license is not added to the activation code for Kaspersky Internet Security 2015. License expiry date for the Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2015 or Kaspersky PURE 3.0 activation code remains the same. You can use the remaining days of the license for Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2015 or Kaspersky PURE 3.0 for protection of another computer.   

If you do not wish to lose remaining days of your current license, you can add a new activation code as a reserve one. In this case, once your active license expires, the new license will be activated automatically.  

In Kaspersky Internet Security 2015, you can add a new activation code for the active license.

When a few days remain until your license expires, you can renew a license for Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 and add a new activation code to the application as a reserve activation code.

Once your license expires, a new activation code will be automatically activated with no disruption of your security.

Before you update or reinstall the OS, make sure that:

• You have the activation code in print on the inner side of the box with the installer CD (if you own a boxed version).
• The activation code is saved on another disc (flash-drive, floppy) which will not be formatted when reinstalling the operating system (if you purchased the product via the eStore).
• Product settings have been exported, and the configuration file is saved on another disc (flash-drive, floppy) which will not be formatted when reinstalling the operating system.

After the OS reinstallation, we recommend that you perform the following actions:

1. Download an installation package from Kaspersky Lab website .
2. Install and activate Kaspersky Internet Security 2015.
3. After you have installed the product and restarted the computer, import the product settings from the configuration file you have created earlier.

If you divided your hard drive into several partitions with different operating systems installed, then you can use one activation code to activate several copies of a Kaspersky Lab product on the operating systems installed on the same computer.

If you lost, deleted your activation code, or it has expired prematurely, then you can restore it by the following methods:

If you purchased a downloadable version. You can find an activation code in an e-mail message which was sent to the e-mail address you specified in the order. If the message is deleted, then in order to restore the activation code, contact the eStore. Give the following information in your request:

• purchase date
• customer info (full name, email address)
• number of the online order (you can find it in a confirmation message received from the eStore after the purchase)

If you purchased a retail (boxed) version of the product. Contact Kaspersky Lab Technical Support via the  My Kaspersky  service to restore the activation code. In your request, please provide the following information:

• Date and approximate time of the license's first activation.
• The license number.
• Screenshot of the Licensing window.
• Copies of the documents that prove the purchase (scans or photographs), if retained.

Please note.  It's impossible to restore the activation code without the license number.

You can only activate Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 with the activation codes purchased the same region.

Activation error 4:1 may appear if you try to activate your application with an activation code in one region (country), but the activation code you use is intended for use in another region (country). This will happen, for example, if you bought Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 in the Indian eStore but you try to install and activate it in the United Kingdom.

To eliminate the problem, install and activate your Kaspersky Lab product in the region (country) where you purchased it.

It depends on the license. For example, if you have a valid Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2015 license for two computers, then can use this license and respective activation code for no more than two computers.

If the number of computers that your license covers is less than the number of computers you want to activate Kaspersky Internet Security 2015 on, then you can increase the number of covered computers via the Kaspersky Lab eStore or with the help of a retail partner.
