The Aceh provincial administration has placed 43 Sri Lankan boat people, stranded on Lhoknga Beach, at a temporary shelter in Lhokseumawe, pending a verification process of their identities.
The authorities will cooperate with the UN High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Sri Lankan Embassy to verify the identity of the migrants.
The migrants were transferred by bus on Wednesday to Lhokseumawe, about 300 kilometers from the provincial capital of Banda Aceh, after receiving aid from Aceh Governor Zaini Abdullah.

Colombo, Sri Lanka | AFP | Wednesday 7/6/2016 - 07:57 GMT
Sri Lanka intends to become completely demilitarised by 2018, the government said Wednesday, a significant announcement that will end the army's involvement in civilian life after decades of ethnic war.
Heavy deployments from the Sri Lankan army have remained in former war zones in the island's north and east since a 37-year conflict with Tamil separatists ended in May 2009.

Just weeks before massive floods in Sri Lanka killed more than 80 people and forced around 300,000 to leave their homes, MapAction and the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP) worked with the Government of Sri Lanka to prepare essential base data for emergency preparedness and response.
MapAction and WFP had undertaken a disaster preparedness mission in early May to establish a robust database of key information that would help the national Disaster Management Centre and humanitarian aid agencies decide how best to provide assistance right from the outset of a disaster.
