The #UnitedStates is seeking to improve its terms of trade with #Israel at a time when the #Trumpadministration has been employing with abandon the weapons of tariffs and sanctions. At issue in the U.S.-Israel #FreeTradeAgreement from 1985, under which 'virtually any product produced in Israel that can be competitive in the U.S. market can enter the U.S. duty-free,' according to a 2018 report from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
It’s hard to blame the #UnitedStates for wanting to restore balance to its trade relations and the fact is Israeli consumers will almost certainly benefit from the removal of barriers to American imports that raise the price of food. But the global dynamics of what the #Trump administration is trying to do carry risks. The war against globalization opposes liberal immigration rules, #freetrade and #multilateralism, whether through NATO, the Paris climate accord or big trade pacts.

In a rare bipartisan show of unity, the House voted in support of a resolution to demand that the Department of Justice release the full findings of #RobertMueller’s report to the public. The resolution is technically nonbinding, so the DOJ does not have to abide by the recommendation, but lawmakers expressed full support for the report’s release in a stunning 420-0 vote.
