Twilight Blues on the Nolan River

A few weekends ago I went to the Nolan River in hopes of Milky Way images, but the clear skies in Fort Worth turned to fog along the river. I only got a few star images. As the light started to come up the nearby town was lighting up the fog and I got a few interesting images of the blue hour. Here is looking up at the bluff behind me and the river in front of me.

If you check out my last post you may notice the same trees are in both images. This shows the difference between a 15mm lens and fisheye. It is a huge difference.

Waiting for the Milky Way

The new moon was late last week so I thought I would attempt to photographic the galactic core of the Milky Way rising. In February you only get a few minutes before dawn arrives. I left Fort Worth under clear skies but began to pass through fog and low clouds. I arrived at the Nolan River and it was overcast. Undaunted, I waded down the river in the dark to this rock ledge, set up the camera and waited. I saw a few stars appear and made several images- this being my favorite. The Milky Way should be right in the top of the trees when this was made, but the clouds are just thick enough you really cannot tell. Soon after the fog settled in.

All in all a fun morning.
