Outfit Ideas from the Disney Parks Characters Series
Merida wearing her famous royal dress
Outfit Ideas Series is for the many Disney Cosplayer Imagineers out there, who are looking for inspiration when making a new design or to create a new version similar to the original. These outfits I showcase are from the actual Disney theme parks we visit. I hope everyone enjoys them.
The word Cosplay, is a portmanteau of the words costume play, it's a performance art in which participants called Cosplayers wear costumes and fashion accessories to represent a specific character. The rapid growth in the number of people Cosplaying as a hobby is huge. The fans have made the phenomenon a significant aspect of pop culture. Many Cosplayers create their own outfits, referencing images of the characters in the process. In the creation of the outfits, much time is given to detail, thus the skill of a Cosplayer may be measured by how difficult the details of the outfit are or how well they have been replicated. The appearance of Cosplayers at public events makes them a popular draw for photographers. As the popularity of Cosplay gets bigger, many conventions have come to feature a contest surrounding Cosplay, as Disney's D23 Expo does.
If meeting characters during your Walt Disney World vacation is important then here are a few tips. Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Animal Kingdom & Hollywood Studios each have a plethora of characters to Meet & Greet with. Your task is to select with park you want to tackle first & utilize FastPass+. Visit DisneyWorld.com, find the "Entertainment" section of each park and here you'll see ALL characters with their times for that day. Now for those that do utilize FastPass+, here's where your early planning gets you in quicker then everyone else. With just park tickets you can select FastPass tickets up to 30 days in advance, 60 days for those who booked a Disney hotel/park vacation combo. For those other characters meeting guests in random spots you'll have to grab an "Entertainment Times Guide" along with a park map and find your character in the list. Most likely if he/she is not on the list, they are not at that park. Always ask a Disney Cast Member for more information as they will have a times guide that they keep on them to help you out. Always always always arrive early or during Extra magic Hours for hotel park guests to get in those character lines early. Once in line you will be able to meet them, if a Cast Member cuts off the line you have missed your chance. If you got in then have fun, take a photo, get an autograph and don't forget that hug at the end!

Disney Cast Members
Always take the time to let the Disney Cast Members know how special they are. Kindness goes a long way. The term comes from Walt Disney himself, when he was using theatrical terms for park operations. A cast member is a Disney employee that works at the Disney Parks or Disney stores. Most cast members have lanyards for Disney pin trading, for those who love to trade like myself. You're more than welcome to share your wonderful cast member stories in the comments below.

It was announced at D23 Expo 2017 by Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts, that California Adventure's Paradise Pier will have a major makeover in 2018. The theme was to build around Toy Story Mania from the beginning in 2007. Now, more of your favorite Pixar stories will come to the new Pixar Pier. It will debut in the Summer of 2018 during a new limited-time Pixar Fest, a celebration of all things Pixar throughout the Disneyland Resort. You will discover whimsical neighborhoods filled with your friends from “The Incredibles,” “Inside Out” and even more of your pals from “Toy Story."
Here are a few changes coming
1) Ariel’s Grotto Character Dining restaurant and the Cove Bar will be transformed into a new lounge and grill offering amazing views of Paradise Bay.
Both locations will close Jan. 8
2) Mickey’s Fun Wheel will have a new Pixar look with the 24 gondolas featuring different Pixar characters. Mickey Mouse's face will remain on the wheel.
3) A neighborhood of Pixar's “Inside Out” will be made on the west side of the boardwalk. A new Pixar attraction is scheduled to open there at a later date.
4) Another themed neighborhood guests will find is from Disney's “The Incredibles.” The new Incredicoaster, is the name so far, will permanently take the place of the current attraction California Screamin’, and will open with Pixar Pier in summer 2018. California Screamin’ will close Jan. 8.
5) The remaining areas of the land that is now Paradise Pier, including Paradise Gardens, Silly Symphony Swings, Jumpin’ Jellyfish, Goofy’s Sky School, Golden Zephyr and The Little Mermaid ~ Ariel’s Undersea Adventure, will become a new land called Paradise Park.
So if you're near the Disneyland Resort. Make sure to visit the disappearing Paradise Pier, before it's gone.
