Classes with Maharat Ruth Balinsky Friedman
Kallah Classes/Pre-Wedding Classes
Maharat Ruth is available to teach chatan and kallah classes to engaged couples in the community. Please email her if you are interested at [email protected]. If there is heavy interest, it may be combined into a group class.
Conversion Classes
Maharat Ruth teaches a weekly conversion class. You must apply to convert and meet with her before attending. Please email [email protected] for more information. Please note that our synagogue requires that anyone studying for conversion live within walking distance (two miles) of the synagogue.
Gemara Class
Maharat Ruth will continue teaching a Beginners Gemara class this summer! Beginning June 7, class will meet on Tuesday evenings at 7:30 PM in the Chadar Tikvah. We will be studying Ketubot. The class is open to people of all backgrounds and there are no language requirements. Please email [email protected] if you have any questions or are interested in attending.

Special 4-Week Class with Aliza Sperling
July 19, July 27, August 3, and August 10
Please join us for a special four week class taught by Aliza Sperling! Judaism 101 will meet at 7:15 pm, and Stories of Joseph will meet after Mincha/Maariv. The class will first meet on Tuesday, July 19th and then will continue on Wednesday July 27th, August 3rd, and August 10th. Please email [email protected] if you have any questions!
Judaism 101: This class is appropriate for beginners and will explore some key Jewish ideas and practices.
Stories of Joseph: How does Joseph go from being an egotistical teenager to the savior of the Middle East? What can we learn from him about our own life journeys? Class open to all levels. No knowledge of Hebrew required.
