Behind the blog
My name is Natalie Tamara, a thirty-something living in Leeds. I do digital marketing and communications for a charity by day and develop recipes by night. Both involve a lot of photography and a lot of social media. I started The Tofu Diaries in 2014 as a productive outlet for the photos I’m always taking, to inspire me to write down the recipes I create, and as a way to share my tips and insights into being a meat-free traveller in over seventy countries and counting.
I’ve been vegetarian for almost as long as I can remember, and was cooking almost exclusively vegan for years, before going fully vegan since January 2016 (so you might still find the occasional old blog post on here that’s focused on vegetarian food). It has a huge influence on not only the food I eat, but the way I travel, the products I buy, and the clothes I wear.
I’ve also had itchy feet for as long as I can remember and am always on the lookout for an adventure, near or far. Four years of my twenties were spent living abroad and travelling and, even though I’ve settled in Leeds for the time-being, I still fit in as many trips in a year as possible.
I hope you’ll stick around and if you do like what you see, why not sign up over in the sidebar for updates on new posts from The Tofu Diaries?

Hi Natalie! I’m a 21 year old vegan student and blogger from the US and I am spending my summer in London! I came across your blog looking for restaurant recommendations am absolutely loving it. Such a great minimalist vibe and killer content. I’d love to get in touch as it looks like we are covering similar subjects. Either way, feel free to check out my blog at marieconcilus.com/marieonthemove. Hope to talk soon!

Hi! I just stumbled across your blog via the picture house antiques facebook page and I’m really glad I clicked! I’m also impressed and happy that you managed to find good veggie food in France! I’m moving back there in June after having spent 2 years in Hebden Bridge and I’m a bit worried about the food options in Alsace (I grew up in France, so I know that chicken and lardons “are not meat, you can eat them”!). Your post made me feel better! I’m also a huge fan of the Beefayre products and matcha tea! Anyway, congrats on your lovely blog, it’s right up my streeet! xx Caroline
Aw thank you so much Caroline – it’s always nice to know how anyone has found their way over here too! Fortunately it does look like there’s some change in France and the focus on organic/healthy eating is certainly good for us veggies 🙂 Thanks so much for popping over and for your lovely words. Happy travels 🙂
