Thank you Sulome. We can all agree that anti-Muslim political rhetoric is out of hand and a serious problem. What both I and Robin are reacting to are Mehdi’s assertions on Joy’s shows, which are not factually accurate. The portrayal of ISIS gunmen as crazy loners is widespread.

With respect for all you do Mehdi, your exact quote on Joy’s show: “There’s always this case of, you know, the white shooter, mass shooter, was he mentally ill, deranged, loner, lone wolf? The Muslim is always a terrorist.” That’s not even close to true as @CTCWP study shows.

ISIS is down to a sliver of land next to the Euphrates River, but my sources on the ground say that the area won’t be liberated today or tomorrow. So we’re holding off reporting the end of this battle until the people doing the fighting say it’s over.
