I'm spending this part of Friday night reading transcripts of Florida's 1998 Constitutional Revision Commission and wow there are some terrible ideas..
like allowing non-unanimous juries to sentence someone to life in solitary confinement w/o possibility of parole.

As far as what I understand it's up to the county clerk of courts office. Liens can still be used against you and impact driver's license, for example, and credit score. But this is already happening now it's not a change.

Notably treats attempted murder the same as actual murder. But besides that, this addresses a lot of activist concerns about disenfranchisement. Not everything, but a lot.

This is an important development. Narrows the definition of murder and sexual offense.

Exactly. That decision was huge and gives tons of ammunition for any fight about this. And it was unanimous! I talked about that decision on the show.

After talking to several national civil rights attorneys, yes this is my conclusion. Any litigation about this will force courts to look at fines and fees in criminal statutes that were never tied to the right to vote -- but now might be. twitter.com/FloridaRoundup…

I'm not "singling" it out. It is a top priority of this administration for a reason - because it is highly polarizing and has been so for decades. If we shift our decades long policy overnight from favoring a 2 state solution to a 1 state solution w autonomy, that's a big deal.

We can debate about who started what and what the root of the animosity is, but the relevant fact is Israel has militarily occupied Palestinian territory for decades, limited their ability to move freely and illegally encroached (settlers) into what would be a Palestinian state.

So reading between the lines, the US goal is to turn Palestine into an Iraqi Kurdistan. A kind of autonomous region that is within another country that has been hostile to it, with no UN representation.
I wonder if Palestinians will be able to travel within all parts of Israel?

Also, it's pretty clear what the Israel/ Palestinian "peace plan" will be at this point. One state, with a Palestinian autonomous region. He's all but said that this is what's coming shortly.
