These new elex are a massive self-inflicted wound. Question of course is who gets the blame--and who can take advantage. Ie, Bibi reportedly offered Labor like half the cabinet and they eventually told him to get lost. Could they go from like 6 up to say, 10 seats as a result?

Politics and uh, reality are at a weird remove from one another--just unimaginable pettiness, venality and corruption in the political sphere that doesn't even seem to track with basic public-sector competence, never mind the country's overall situation...

This isn't 1995 or 2001 or 2006. Israel isn't in the grip of a national reckoning that the politics can't fix. The pressures on the system and the country aren't nearly as severe as they were at those and other recent points in time...

The really strange thing about the Israeli political meltdown--similar to the one we've been experiencing in the US since mid-2016--is that it's taking place when things seem to be going...kinda well?

Oh I'm definitely gonna go to Primavera next year. The lineup is just disgustingly excellent this year though...

Turns out I had too much stuff going on in America for it to have made any sense to go...but man, what a lineup. Also I hear Barcelona is cool

Israel elections twice in one year sounds terrible. But here’s some perspective: there are countries in the region that haven’t had legitimate elections once since email was invented.
