Bunnies and more socks

I made my third pair of bunnies, just took me until after Easter to get them done. So that is a total of 6 now and I think I am done these little rabbits. I ordered a bunch of yarn from Knit Picks to try a variety of yarns.The pattern is from Little Cotton Rabbits on Ravelry.

I have had a crazy zauberball  from Schoppelwolle for a few years and it was always slated for socks for me, but I made another pair for my hubby, still just plain ribbed socks. They still fit over his heel and high arch and yet stay up over his slim legs.  I must say I love the colours in this pair, it makes for a fun knit as you want to see what the next section will look like.

Two Pairs of Socks.

I have slowly been knitting 2 pairs of socks for my hubby. I thought that I knew the pattern inside out, having knitted so many pairs of socks  in the past.I couldn’t remember how to turn a heel or how to the kitchener  stitch to do the toes. Then with both pairs I made one sock too short. I have now marked the ruler with a Sharpie so I hope that helps on the next pair.

The blue pair with the Trekking (XXL) yarn was first, just 2×2 rib. The first sock had a white section and I thought that another white band would appear in the rest of the ball somewhere but no, that was the only white section in that ball.

The next pair was with Stroll Tonal in Kindling from Knit picks.  I started in a 2×2 rib but then switched to a Fibonacci sequence over 17 stitches per needle.So 1P,2K 3P, 5K, 3P, 2K, 1P per needle. So 6 weeks of tv knitting, time now to go on to something else.

I started another pair of socks for him.

Project spectrum update

Just a few days left for the colour red and the direction south.  I did finish 2 pairs of socks. So far I am on track for the year regarding a pair a month. The last pair is the peach, bamboo pair with  Sunday swing pattern.IMG_0134

I tried on the knitted tank—yikes!! I won’t be showing any pictures of that. For awhile I toyed  with the idea that I could wear it under a jacket.  Finally came to my senses and thought I don’t need a bamboo tank to wear under a sweatshirt and undid a section of it and then laid it out against a sweater that fits a whole lot better. As I sit here and type this post, I think ripping it out and the doing a summer shawl might be a better idea.

I knitted a set of three bowls with a lively orange from Araucania nature wool chunky, so far they look like 3 weird hats for dolls.  They still need to be felted.IMG_0132

It was so hard for me to enjoy the colour red to knit or sew with, I did enjoy some tomatoes from the patio.

Finally, I did knit a scarf for my sister, just a simple little number with a few garter stitch rows to break up the monotony of stockinette stitch.IMG_0125I used 3 balls of Berroco Seduce in colour Cinnebar,  4445.

I started this pair of socks 10 days ago, Mokira from Spillyjane. The yarn is Indigo Moon, colour Salal. I enjoyed working with both the pattern and the yarn. I do think it looks like Malachite as the yarn is darker than in the photograph. img_0116img_0115

This is Debbie Bliss Cotton Angora, it is lovely and soft to knit.
A baby hat for a one year old.


Eden in Blush and Seduce in Cinnibar from Webs are my latest purchases, probably sleeveless tops will eventually be knit.
The sock yarns below are Vancouver, I managed to knit a pair of socks while I was away on vacation. I knitted opn planes and trains, the first sock had a sloppy cuff and was tight through the instep, so a few changes were made on the second sock. I have yet to start the one sock over but I will now that I have some free time in the evening and don’t have to work on the dolls. I am hoping to graft the new top half of the sock to the first one I made. I must admit I am not that crazy about grafting that number of stitches.
The new dark ball of Regia is the Skein of the Month from Webs for May, once again serendipity strikes. 5 months of yarn has arrived, each ball has fitted in with my Project spectrum. Now the element is air and the colours are grey, white and yellow. There are a mulititude of grey tones in this ball, I think it will be socks for my husband.


Socks and Yarn

My socks are done, my 17th pair in total. The weird tube thing worked out. I did both heels after the long tube was finished and then cut the tube in the centre and added on the toes. One thing I am not sure about with this method is that there are a lot of ends to work in, which is not my favorite way to make socks. It was an experiment, which I thought might work out well in making socks for children. I have a lot of partial balls of sock yarn. I worked these on my Addis and I love working with them, my tension is tighter and I’ll have to swatch next time. I read about someone, maybe on Knitting Daily, that just knits a long tube with her favorite needles and adds little tags, to the never ending swatch tube, with the number of rows and stitches to the inch and the size of needles used. Sort of a visual journal, a unique keepsake!

The new yarn is a late Christmas present, I feel like I have been waiting so long! It took a month to get to my house. I got a gift of the Skein of the Month from Webs. So this is the first of 12 deliveries. It is super soft, 70% wool and 30% silk, my favorite fibres. I don’t usually work in this colourway, which is spectacular, lots of shades of red, pink and orange. It certainly fits with Project Spectrum 3 and the theme of fire. There was also a new scarf pattern and a tape measure included. Click on the photo for a good close look.

I have been working on a pair of socks and hope to finish them tonight. It is the first time that I worked toe up socks and with cotton and wool combined. The length is good and the fit is good. They are tough to get up over the heel but I’ve had socks that weren’t perfect before, so I think it is always live and learn.

I have also been sewing with fabric from Toronto, a great knit, love the colour. I am using a dress pattern but have changed it into a top and skirt. I think I will get more wear out of it that way, I have enough for at least one more top. I can also wear the tops with an white eyelet skirt and I have a white dotted swiss coat that I can wear with it as well. It will work well on my vacation.

My fabric from Fabric Mart came, I am very excited. The pima cotton is wonderful, it’s white and I use it for dolls, some great interfacing and a white canvas with a price I couldn’t resist. The silk jacquard came, $2 a yard and I have 6 as it is a bit narrow, it is for coat lining.

I am ready to start new socks, up next is Jitterbuy in the Sahara colourway.
