I started another pair of socks for hubby this month. The last socks fit him so well, I am doing the same pattern as last time. This time the yarn is some Fleece artist sock seconds that has been sitting in the stash for quite ahwile. I love the colour of these socks.
They were finished up last night.

Sometime in the summer of 2008, I joined the Great Coat Sew-Along. Many photos went back and forth, with me in my muslin, trying to problem solve. Then the house went up for sale and the coat materials and pattern were boxed up. Sometime in 2009, it was unpacked and cut out, I worried a great deal about bound buttonholes, I read everything I could and put it all away again. Finally in the last few months of 2010, I decided to get going and get it done, so finally I am finished.
Pattern Butterick 4665 , now out of print, fabric melton cloth with a silk tie fabric lining from Fabric Mart. Buttons from the stash. I look forward to wearing this coat. Some of the sewing skills are starting to come back, I think I could do another coat or jacket now. I have several patterns and lots of fabric to chose from. I knitted several scarves to go with this coat, it will be fun to get them out of the closet. My pictures aren’t great and as with most sewing projects there are a few problems but truly it is the best that I could do this time around. It fits well, I have worn it in the cold of Toronto and today in Vancouver, so I am happy.

I have been away a couple of weeks. I’ve been to Jamaica for a family wedding of a niece. While in the Caribbean, we also went on a cruise ship to the Bahamas. Rounded off the trip with a weekend in Toronto and got to experience some of the cold. Now to try to get back into a routine, less food, more exercise, more creativity.
We had a friend who stayed here looking after our place, she enjoyed her staycation. Our place looked great on return.
So the trip was a lot of firsts, first time at an all-inclusive resort, first time in the Caribbean, my that water is blue, salty and warm, first cruise ship experience, first time in first class in the pod sleep stations, very nice, lucky we had the points.
In Toronto, another first, I went to a Knitty roundtable, where knitters got to play with the newest yarns and pass judgement. First time, out in the cold in my new coat I made. there will be another post on it as it was part of the great coat sewalong.
