EU Commission challenges Visa over card fees

The European Commission on Thursday sent a charge sheet to the Visa credit card company, based on fees merchants have to pay when non-EU customers pay by card in the EU. The commission said the so-called inter-regional fees "represent an important part of the total fees within the Visa scheme" and the cost "could potentially lead to higher prices for consumer goods and services." Visa has two months to reply.
