German carmakers commit to reducing diesel pollution
By EUOBSERVER
German carmakers Daimler, BMW, Volkswagen and Opel agreed on Wednesday to update the software of five million diesel cars in order to reduce their emissions. The pledge was made at a summit in Berlin with politicians, organised by the government in the wake of the Dieselgate scandal. Allegations were revealed in July that the carmarkers had been operating a cartel since the 1990s to bypass emissions regulations.
