Italy constitutional vote set for 4 December

A referendum on a constitutional reform curbing powers of the Senate and simplifying the legislative process will be held on 4 December, the Italian government announced on Monday. Prime minister Matteo Renzi, who said the reform would stabilise the political system and help reform the country, said a few months ago he would quit if he loses. But as the result looks uncertain, he has been less categorical recently.
