Well, let's be honest for a moment. I used to work here back when it was Broadway Toyota, and did my absolute best to be unbiased as possible; As in, coming in as a potential car buyer. Well, let's be honest for a moment. I used to work here back when it was Broadway Toyota, and did my absolute best to be unbiased as possible; As in, coming in as a potential car buyer. So, here we go, completely honest review time. The only thing I should say is that most of the staff that stayed behind after ownership change still remembers me, but didn't influence a decision on whether or not I could be approved for a car.
I did the Kelly Blue Book instant cash offer a while back for my tired, but still serviceable 2012 Corolla, because I was looking for a larger and possibly more fuel efficient car. Walked in when I had a chance and was greeted by friendly staff, and we shot the breeze for a while. It was a nice change from other dealers. Talked with Misael for a while about my options because I was obviously underwater on my car and my credit was bruised. Looked into getting a 2017 Camry SE on a lease to absorb negative equity. We agreed on a price that I could manage (admittedly was pretty high but doable) and went through the approval process.
However, I was told to contact them if it had been three days, because they couldn't work on approving me for the lease. Of course, I forgot to contact them, and eventually was uninterested for a while.
Anyways, I visited the store again after a few weeks and asked what happened, and everyone was confused. I told them what happened and decided to try a few different cars with a different salesman, who's name escapes me. It went well and went through the approval process with the different vehicle.
Again, I was told to call them if I didn't hear back after three days, so, again, I forgot. My fault.
I was ready to bring in a cosigner if needed but the lack of urgency at this dealer bothers me. It would have been nice for someone to at least tell me "We're sorry, we couldn't approve you on your own" instead of giving me the run around both times I've been in. I mean, I know that they were doing everything in their power to get me approved because they wanted me to be happy, but, at the same time, it's just another car dealer giving the usual tactics.
Maybe things will change eventually after I go through my bankruptcy but I'm not sure at this point. I'd say at least give this Toyota dealer a chance, otherwise go to Beaverton.
