Android 5.0 emojis were the first major revision to Google's emoji font after the introduction of color in Android 4.4.
The primary changes in this update are to the appearance of human emojis (changed from white to yellow), and the addition of 209 emoji flags.

About Google Emojis
Google emoji images are used on stock Android devices (generally Nexus branded models), Gmail Web Interface, Google Hangouts, and ChromeOS. These are provided as part of the Noto Emoji project.
Platform vendors such as Samsung, LG and HTC use their own emoji images. WhatsApp displays Apple emoji images on Android, instead of these emojis.
The latest emojis from Google are available in the Android N Preview.
