Imagine a new beginning, one in which we create the world we want to live in.
In this world debts are forgiven, land is not owned in perpetuity and the economic injustice that results from land ownership is prevented, rest and regeneration for people and the planet are prioritized, immigrant rights are inviolable, and all who are hungry - human and more-than-human - have enough to eat.
Shmita is the ancient biblical earth-based system that radically asserts such a world is possible.
Shmita is the 7th year of a 7 year agricultural cycle where debts are released, land ownership is dissolved, people and the land rest, and immigrants and those without access to land share in the food the earth provides.
Throughout 2021 Ekar brings you opportunities to explore these issues, to meet and engage with changemakers and movement leaders, and to personally begin to participate in creating our collective future, to ensure the planet we live on can support thriving human life for all.
Check the Do-Ing Shmita bar at the top of the page for events and opportunities.
