My name is Nicolette, I live in The Netherlands. My blog is written in English and though it’s not my native language, I’ve always loved it, thanks to a wonderful teacher in High School.
I studied and worked for 22 years before I discovered my love for graphic design. I made a career change in in the nineties, after I succesfully graduated from a study Graphic Design and Art History. I have had my own little design studio for over 20 years as a self employed graphic designer. Unfortunately I had to close my business due to a lack of orders and I’m enjoying an early but involuntary retirement now.
I’m married to a Dutch guy (Mr DC) who is also my best friend and buddy for some decades.
In my teens and twenties I sewed my own clothes, but other hobbies like painting and knitting took over. After my first visit to a quiltstore in 2005, I fell in love with patchwork and re-discovered the possibilities of working with and my love for fabrics. It took me another two years to really embrace quilt making but from the day I discovered quilt blogs in 2007 and started one of my own, I’ve become a real fabric and craft addict again. I love to make quilts. I especially love ‘slow quilts’, that need more attention than just stitching pieces of fabric together on a sewing machine. That’s why I also love appliqué, hand stitching and hand quilting.
My dream is to combine my skills as a graphic designer with my love for textile. A new journey with an always open ending.
