Just a short post to let you know I’m still tangled in all my projects!
In real the Star Dance quilt-top looks better! It’s a simple pattern (Friendship star) and all Moda Grunge fabrics. A typical quilt that can be quilted all-over with an intensive quilting pattern, which will bring it to life! The fourth block in the second row is almost invisible in the photo, but it’s a very light blue and works fine in real.
I’ve finished all the appliqué work and all the borders for the Down the Rabbit Hole aka Down the Cat Flap quilt. It’s impossible to take a photo as the final size of the top is 245 cm. I hope to find a way to at least take a photo of one of the corners, so you can have an idea what it looks like!
I’m off again… I have to work on my Anna Maria Horner Folk Flower blocks! 😉

P.S. I’m sorry if I have’t replied to your comments on my posts, I’m having trouble with my outgoing e-mail server on and off!

The Star Dance quilt-top is ready to be quilted!

One of the appliqué borders for the Down the Cat Flap quilt. Only 16 leaves and 6 circles to go and the quilt-top can be assembled!

The last paper pieced blocks for the Summer Sampler 2018. All the Hour Glass setting blocks are finished as well, so the quilt-top can be assembled!

The first finished Woodward block for the Golden Days quilt. Six more to go!

A basted Trellis quilt (free pattern by Cloud9 fabrics) for Droomdekentjes.
I make use of every free second in a day to work on my quilt projects. I have a very strict schedule to follow and I succeeded to do even more than I expected!
Happy weekend!

Finished blocks for the Golden Days quilt by Jennifer Kingwell:

Month 3: Wagon Wheel blocks, hand stitched, using the acrylic TOM templates.

Month 4: Hopscotch block #1, hand stitched

Month 5: Pineapple block, hand appliquéd (using the freezer paper technique)
Even though this quilt will not be exhibited next April, I’m working on the blocks once in a while. The reason is that I’m a member of a quilt-along group and that it’s nice to go to the meetings and see each other’s work. I’ve 4 more blocks ready to be stitched together.

Working on so many different quilts in very different styles, is what I love to do. I’m easily getting bored, you know! What I loved about making the Anthologie quilt-top (aka BariJ quilt) was to create a soft low value look with some splashes of colour in the Mod Tulips blocks, the Dresden’s, the Flying Geese and the Broderie Perse.
It was my first attempt at broderie Perse and I loved it. I used a handmade flannel stitch. The idea is to decorate the quilt with some big stitch quilting after it had been basted.

Electric Pop quilt-top, pattern by Jemima over at tiedwitharibbon.
Fabrics by Tula Pink, All Stars and solids and a white on white background.
The Electric Pop quilt-top is done. It was made in a few weeks time from start to finish with all sorts of other quilt related work in between.
I was always wondering why I was able to finish a machine pieced quilt-top in a rather short period of time, when it was made as a shop sample for a quilt-shop and why it often took me ages to finish these kind of quilt-tops for myself. I now know that I can work very focussed and fast, when the quilt-top isn’t for someone else, but for me!

After I made the Aurora quilt and the Electric pop quilt I purchased another of Jemima’s patterns i.e. the Trinket Box quilt pattern and the acrylic templates to go with it. This will be a project for some time next year.
I had a lot of quilt-top finishes over the past few months. The Prince quilt, Flowery Kim Quilt, The Delilah quilt, The Anthologiequilt, The Aurora quilt, The Electric Pop quilt and the Star Dance quilt. I’m finishing my Down the Rabbit Hole quilt as we speak, the Folk Flower quilt and the Summer Sampler 2018 and maybe the Denyse Schmidt hexagon quilt will be added as well.
You may wonder why I’m in such a hurry to finish all my quilt-tops. Well… I think it’s about time I share some wonderful news.
I’ve been asked to exhibit my quilts during the Patchwork and Quilting Days next April in Rijswijk, very close to my Hometown. My quilts and I will be present for three days in a row. I feel so fortunate that I was asked and I can’t wait to see them all lined up. I’ve six months left, which seems long, but all quilts need to be (hand)quilted and they will need bindings, sleeves and labels.
In all the hustle and bustle I cut a piece of the top of my left index finger with my rotary cutter. It’s 12 days ago, but still not completely healed, however I manage to stitch and appliqué by hand now without using my index finger.
And while being busy September went by in a blink and October has started. Isn’t it amazing how fast the days go by?

I’ve been assembling all the blocks for the Delilah quilt and stitched them into a quilt-top by hand! It’s finally done!

The hardest part of the ‘assemblage’ was to give the top a cohesive look. Instead of the 3″ pin wheel filler blocks, I chose to cut 3″ filler squares out of Low Value fabrics.
A great decision as it gives the quilt a much ‘quieter’ look.
The Delilah quilt is a TOM quilt by Jennifer Kingwell, started in February 2017.
Quilt size: 66″ x 69″
Fabrics: received with the TOM and lots of my own scraps.
And yet another top on the top-shelf!

After finishing the Aurora quilt-top, pattern by Jemima of Tiedwitharibbon she designed another pattern that immediately caught my eye. It’s called Electric Pop!
As you can se above, Jemima’s quilt was made with Tula Pink’s All Stars and solids.
I had the complete All Stars series, the solids and 5 meter of a white on white background fabric on hand, so after some consideration, I decided to go for the quilt. The use of colours create a colour shift in the quilt.
I try to fussy cut the amazing animals, like the racoon, owl, frog, squirrel, bee and bird, so they get the well deserved attention in the blocks.
I’ll be making the throw size with 16 15″ finished blocks. The finished quilt size will be 66″ square. I’m 5 of the 16 blocks down, so 11 more to go! Lots of HST, you just got to love them!

23 Thursday Aug 2018

Progress has been made on th BariJ quilt-along quilt (Anthologiequilt) More blocks are finished.

I’m working on the last two larger panels with Dresden’s and Broderie Perse.

Block 13 for the Summer Sampler is finished, i.e. the Pisa block. It’s inspired by the architecture of the Tower of Pisa. The block design is by Faith Jones of Fresh Lemons quilts.

I started machine quilting the Sweethearts quilt for Droomdekentjes for a change.
I’ve also been working on the Delilah quilt. The top is almost assembled and I made some progress on the DS Hexagon quilt.
It feels like I’m working on quilt projects 24/7 😉 which probably is exactly what I’m doing!
