Chocolate- Challenge 25 Happy second anniversary Chocolate Baroque!

Our next challenge is at the Chocolate Baroque blog and a personal favourite. Who doesn’t love chocolates? We don’t think we know anyone! Chocolate be it dark, milk or white, be it on its own or with flavours- everyone has their own pick!

Today we’ve created a Chocolate box! In our box- we’ve incorporated the basics- dark, milk and white for our base. We’ve added textures to the top to give the feel of the praline and butter-scotch crunchiness and we’ve added the creamy strawberry red-pink; all this to remind you of the quality street box :-)! We’ve also added textures to the sides using a stencil and milky gold colour(caramel, nutella cream) to give it a rich, ornate feel- that of a treasure box!

We then created miniature chocolates and roses with clay to go on the top as our embellishments.

Oooo so chocolatey!!!!

This time we were inspired by two different challenges and we created one piece.

Altenew’s Inspiration Challenge for July and Papericious’s July Moodboard.

So we’ve created a Wedding Gift box. Wedding because of Altenew’s theme, and gift box because we wanted to create something different. We’ve added floral elements to our box and they are all fussy cut  after stamping from Altenew’s collection. We’ve added our sentiment (Altenew stamp collection) and heat embossed it. We’ve added lace and coloured crystals to enhance the wedding feel.

From Papericious’s Mood board we were inspired by the wood-grain background and flowers . We’ve used the Always and Forever paper from Papericious’s  Ephemera collection for the lid. We’ve embossed it to get the wood grain texture and highlighted it with distress inks. For our floral die cuts also we’ve used the paper paper. We have also added a latice die cut element on one corner using the same paper. We’ve covered the sides of the base using a different sheet from the same paper collection.

So we’ve combined the two and created this piece. And guess what, it suited a client’s customisation needs, so it’s sold!

Papericious’s July Moodboard Challenge

Hello amigos!

After a lot of pestering and requests from our family, friends and clients, we are starting our art and craft classes! Yes, you heard it right :-)! But these are not just any classes, they are going to be specialised decoupage classes. This means that you could chose what technique you want to learn and take back a finished product using that technique.

The various techniques we are teaching are-

1. Crackle Effect- Learn a 4″x4″ box with either country crackle effect or egg-shell crackle effect using a napkin/rice paper.
2. Blending Technique- Learn a caddy using napkin/rice paper and blending with paints/stamps/stencils.
3. Lace Effect- Learn to design a Tray/Place-mat with the lace effect and napkin/rice paper.
4. Die-Cut & Emboss- Learn to design a small trinket box using the techniques of die-cutting and embossing paper.
5. Patterned-Paper Decoupage- Learn to design a family tissue box holder using patterned-paper
6. Napkin Decoupage- Learn to design a set of coasters using a single napkin.

We will soon introduce a few mixed-media classes as well! So wait up!

With our recent love for card making, this challenge was fun for us.

Challenge #63-Sketch

For this challenge we stuck to the orientation as in the sketch and created a card.

We’ve used a white card stock sheet as our base. Our second layer of paper is from Kaisercraft’s Kaleidoscope paper packs. Our third layer is an ivory sheet embossed and coloured with distress ink- squeezed lemonade. Our sentiment has been heat embossed using Lindy’s two-toned Amethyst powder and is from Altenew’s Spring Daisy collection. We’ve distressed the edges of the sentiment using distress ink-wild honey. Our image has been stamped using Altenew’s Beautiful Day collection and then cut. We’ve assembled our image on the card and stuck it with foam tape for the dimension. To complete, we added a few coloured stones. We’ve also designed the envelope to match the card. lulu

Lulupu The Craft Lounge- Challenge #63

We decided to take on another challenge and this time it was at Chocolate Baroque.

We were inspired by the colour palette of Challenge 24 and created a mixed media piece. Although we don’t have any of their products, we still went ahead and participated in this challenge.

Our focus was the late evening sky and we wanted to create something inspiring.

For this, we used an iris sheet as our base. Our background is a result of four distress inks- squeezed lemonade, wild honey, victorian velvet and wilted violet; which have been blended using the blending tool. We then add a few textures using two design stencils and Ranger Transparent Gloss medium. We used this as it takes on the background colour and intensifies the textures. For this piece we wanted an effect like this. We then used the messy lines stamp from Peek-a-boo with Picket Fence Distress Stain and stamped on top. We sprayed Picket Fence at a few spots as well. We then took a chipboard bench and lamp post and painted them black. We stamped a bicycle from Itsy Bitsy Clear Stamp Travel collection. We then stuck the chipboard elements keeping in my fore-ground and background. We stamped doves from Tres Elegant clear stamp collection. For the black stamping we used Black Archival Ink. We stamped our sentiment from the Altenew stamp collection for our inspiration. To finish it off we added a few white crystal stones in the sky.

Chocolate Baroque Challenge 24

When we saw this title, we jumped with excitement. We have made this card to be submitted for two challenges.

To create this layered Thank you card we’ve used card stock paper- white and blue.

We first decided our alignment of the blue card stock onto  a white base (14″ x 14″). As we were doing triple stamping we placed two blue pieces, (14″ x 3.5″) one on the top and one at the bottom. We then cut another blue piece (8.5″x6″) for the centre over-lapping the top and the bottom. Next we cut white pieces 1 cm shorter than the blue.

To begin with ,we used masking tape and stuck the three small white pieces onto our white base (as mentioned above). We then chose Swirly Time stamp by Peek-a-Boo designs for our background. We used Lime Green and Buttered Popcorn Ranger dye ink and stamped our background beginning from the centre. While stamping we ensured that we stamped on the overlapping areas so as to achieve the desired effect. Next we chose a simple doily stamp from Itsy Bitsy and stamped it with Tiger Lily Archival ink. Again, we started with the centre and moved around keeping in mind the over-lapping areas.

Once done we took off the pieces and stuck them onto the blue card stock pieces with a 0.5 cm border on all sides. We then stuck the pieces onto our base exactly as we stamped them. Once done it created a shadow and the stamped images appeared to pass through the blue seams.

We stamped our sentiment onto a white card stock and distressed the edges with Wild Honey Distress Ink. We used foam tape to adhere it to our base. We glued our base onto a white card. We stamped flowers from the Altenew Vintage rose collection, cut them and adhered them with foam tape for an embossed look.

My Time To Craft Challenge #324

Oh yes! They do. Greeting cards are the best way to convey a message to a loved one. They could be for various occasions and come in various sizes.

Recently, we’ve taken a fancy to them. We love creating cards with various sentiments and for different occasions. These are so much fun to make.

In fact, for an amateur crafter this should be the first go to thing. And for the rest, they could be the most rejuvenating craft.

For our cards we’ve used Ivory sheets as well as card stock paper. We’ve used various techniques like embossing, die cut, heat embossing, stamping, stencil, etc.. We’ve used inks and water colours predominantly.

Lindy’s Stamp Gang Colour challenge: Graphic

Ever since we’ve gotten into mixed media, we were curious to explore different textures/mediums/paints/ink and much more. The first Mist Spray we ordered were Lindy’s Stamp gang Starburst sprays- Prairie Wildflowers. And we fell in love with them. We now have a good collection of these and love spraying them around :-D!

Today for this colour challenge we created a mixed media art work. For our base we chose Iris paper and mounted that on a board. We’ve added different textures and  predominantly used Yellow Rose of Texas and Peony Scarlet Red Spray  for our background.  We then stamped with black archival to create more textures. We next chose our embellishments-  chipboard- clock dial, swirl, birds, camera;  flowers; glass bottle; buttons; metal-key, sail boat, telephone, bird house, basket, cycle and pocket watch. We coloured our chipboard and metal add-ons with gesso and then sprayed them with the same shades as our background and stuck them using Tacky glue. We then chose our sentiment (these are good times)- stamped it on the same paper (sprayed with yellow of Texas) and heat embossed it using Lindy’s two-toned embossing powder- Hibiscus Rose Orange. We mounted this onto a piece of foam and added it to our project. We also stamped the word Memories on top for a little more emphasis.

Voila! We have our own little masterpiece :-)!

Happy July! Beginning of a new month, and new challenges in store.

Today we thought we’d share our zen tangle art work which is truly meditative. We have created a series of mini canvas with an inspiring word. We’ve done it up in black and white and added colour only to the word. If you stare at these for a long time, the designs might seem to move and create a 3 D effect.
