I’m posting this early. I don’t plan to watch tomorrow’s farce of an inauguration, and have no interest to hear the reading of the doggerel inaugural poem which will call Obama a “tyrant” as he sits next to a real one.
Also, no sympathy for those Republicans who are calling their opponents in Congress who refuse to attend “crybabies.” This is not about refusing to attend the inauguration of someone who somehow beat you in an election. It’s about sending a message of dismay to the most unqualified, most despicable person who has ever been elected to the office. This man has been a public figure for over 30 years. We know him well for what he is: a trash celebrity and phony businessman whose empire was built by screwing his contractors and employees. A man who has already had to settle two lawsuits at around $25 million apiece for his fake university, specifically designed to defraud students. A man who, if not glowingly racist and sexist himself (though I think he is), at least enjoys stirring up those sentiments in others. A man who distanced himself in only the most half-hearted fashion from the support of the Ku Klux Klan. A bad man in any sense worth discussing.
