ALDO was founded in 1972 by Aldo Bensadoun in Montreal, Quebec. ALDO Group is a private corporation that has established during the years a chain of stores specialized in shoes and accessories. The company is headquartered in Montreal. In 1991 ALDO launched the banner “Transit”. This banner now has the name “Spring” after it was launched in the US market. In 1996 Aldo launched a new banner that was focused on older clients. The name is “Fettfirst”.There are more than 1 500 stores located in different continents and countries. Stores out of Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom are franchised. In 2011 ALDO started a partnership with Kohl’s and for the Spring 20011 season the company launched new designed products in Kohl’s stores. In March 2012 ALDO signed a contract with Madonna with the intention to produce her own fashion line called Truth or Dare By Madonna. The line was successfully launched in 2012 at Macys, The Bay and others.
