Amigurumi Elephant

I can’t believe it’s been over a year since I blogged last and I apologize! I’ve completely lost my sewing mojo but have rediscovered the knitting bug and although it’s not quilting, I am creating fabric. It can be a slow process but with small projects, it can be quick and fun as well.

I’ve been knitting and crocheting little amigurumi figures and have designed a generic, all-in-one, top down bundle of goodness myself.

I’ve taken a sock knitting class on Craftsy by Lucy Neatby and knit socks for my husband and myself as well as brioche scarves for a friend and my Mother-in-law. There are a ton of new techniques I’ve never heard of like knitting two pairs of socks on one set of circular needles and the “magic ring” in both knitting and crocheting.

Pippi

Our family has grown by one four pound little furry bundle of joy! “Pippi” is an 8 week old, 1/2 Yorkshire Terrier, 1/2 parti colour Poodle puppy. Her name was chosen because of her freckles, she was chosen because she would stay small, doesn’t shed, is smart (but not so easy to potty train!!) and agile.

Winston (our Pug) is 15, a great age for any dog, large or small! We know he may not have a lot of time left and we felt it would be better to find another dog now, while our heads, hearts and emotions are screwed on straight rather than when we’re grieving his loss.

I contacted a number of rescue organizations but things just didn’t work out, we were accepted by each one but the dogs we were interested in either weren’t a match for us or the organizations didn’t think they’d be a match.

Frustrated, we turned to online ads and found Pippi. So far she’s a very well adjusted, fearless, mellow little girl. She grew up on a horse farm with a bunch of other dogs and people.

You know I have to make a bed for this little girl, right?😀

 

Over a MONTH!

Holy crap, it’s been over a month since I posted last and I don’t even have anything of my own to show you!

However, I did want to share with you another Michelle Patterns $5 Friday yummy!

How cute is this?! I think I have to add this bag to my collection!

If you’re interested in my real life — outside sewing — it’s going great! I’m walking anywhere from 3 to 6 dogs a day and sitting dogs almost every weekend, it’s fun to have a new pup come and live with us for a few days! All have been wonderful!

I’m dreadfully behind in my bee contributions and profusely apologize to my bee mates, I promise I’ll get back behind the sewing machine soon!

New Messenger Bag Pattern

I had a lot going on Friday, the tutorial for my quilted basket was featured by Sew Sisters (thank you!!), we drove to Quebec to hang out with my parents and wish my Dad a happy Father’s Day and Michelle Patterns released a sweet new Messenger Bag patternfor $5.00!!

I received notification for this bag just before we left, I didn’t want to miss out on the sale so I purchased it immediately. I have some great fabric just begging to be made into a great bag and I think this is it!

I took the Kona Club Challenge!

Kona Club - September

When Sew Sisters invited me to take the Kona Club Challenge, I jumped at the chance! I was given a number of colour combination options and chose September which consisted of Citrus, Mulberry, Turquoise and Kumquat. Since my tutorial would be published in June, I thought these colours best represented the abundance of flowers blooming in my garden at that time.
