TIFF Industry runs a series of tailored professional development programmes to assist talented filmmakers in fast-tracking their careers and projects. The broad range on offer includes bespoke opportunities for writers (TIFF Studio), directors (TIFF Talent Lab), actors (TIFF Rising Stars), and filmmakers with films in Official Selection at the Toronto International Film Festival (Boot Camp). Filmmaking teams are encouraged to apply for Telefilm Canada’s PITCH THIS! competition, and producers may apply to the OMDC's International Financing Forum.
TIFF's professional development programmes are supported in part by the Share Her Journey campaign, which is committed to increasing participation, skills, and opportunities for women behind and in front of the camera.

Each year, TIFF invites filmmakers with films selected for Festival for the first time to attend a one-day workshop on how to navigated the Festival, mingle with Festival programmers, and learn some of the ins-and-outs of sales and distribution.
TIFF Studio offers a unique opportunity for talented Canadians to hothouse their projects and build their understanding of the screen industry.
Held annually during the Toronto International Film Festival, TIFF Talent Lab is an artistic development program intended for aspiring Canadian and international filmmakers.
TIFF Rising Stars is part of our ongoing commitment to promoting Canadian cinema and talent on the world stage. This programme showcases new Canadian acting talent, putting the emphasis on the next generation of actors poised for international success.
Telefilm Canada PITCH THIS! returned for its 18th consecutive year at the 2017 Toronto International Film Festival.
The TIFF-CBC Diverse Screenwriters Grant will provide $10,000 to a Canadian writer of an outstanding feature film screenplay. The Grant is open to experienced screenwriters who are female, Indigenous, belong to visible minorities, or identify with a disability and who also have a writer or director credit on at least one feature film that has been presented at one of the CBC Breaking Barriers Film Fund's list of recognized festivals.
Launched in July 2015, the Len Blum Residency pays homage to one of Canada’s most celebrated screenwriters by providing one Canadian filmmaker with the opportunity to live, work, and receive mentorship at TIFF Bell Lightbox. The residency is generously supported by Toronto-based producer and distributor Ron Mann.
