Every Democratic Congress person's press release should begin with: (1) Trump is responsible for Iran crisis because he withdrew from nuclear deal (2) More sanctions will inevitably lead to a more aggressive Iran (3) To avoid war, Trump should lift sanctions & rejoin nuclear deal

Every 'how did we get here?' story regarding Iran should begin with: May 8, 2018 -- Trump announced US withdrawal from Iran nuclear deal Nov. 5, 2018 -- Trump re-imposed all sanctions targeting Iran Nov. 5, 2018-present -- Trump has imposed additional sanctions on Iran

His policies are *the reason* Iran will have to engage in "nuclear blackmail."

That the US will fail to live up to its int'l commitments & cannot be trusted was an argument for a certain political camp in Iran. So Hook has a point.

Trump doesn't understand that those advising him to impose new sanctions are doing so specifically because they know it will provoke Iran to respond:

Schiff, cont’d: “...And this was exactly what the JCPOA was designed to prevent. “And so, yes, the president made the right last-minute decision, but, frankly, the lead-up to that over the last two years has been disastrous.”

Adam Schiff on CNN on how we got here on Iran: “We have to look beyond the last 24 to 48hrs, & consider the last 24 months, where we walked out of this agreement that Iran was complying with. It's the foreseeable consequence of the last 2 years of us heading into this dead end.”

Not beyond explanation at all. It is what the FDD, the Institute for Science and International Security, and other rightwing thinktankers have been saying since before the JCPOA was signed. They have also been attacking anyone who dares say what is actually in the agreement.

What else could Sanders do but mock a political class that is so stupid, corrupt, and ethically challenged...?

"He was just doing a limited strike" says the 'Face the nation' host “Oh…just a limited strike!" quipped, "Oh, I’m sorry, I just didn't know that it's okay to simply attack another country with bombs. That’s a limited strike? That’s an act of warfare,”

“These people want to push us into a war, and it’s so disgusting,” Mr. Trump told one confidante about his own inner circle of advisers. “We don’t need any more wars.”

Trump's continued loyalty to Bolton is bizarre. If we are to take Trump at his word, he wants diplomatic breakthroughs with both North Korea and Iran. Yet he continually follows Bolton's approach of maximum pressure & extreme demands, which makes these breakthroughs impossible.

Told : If the Iranians don’t get some reprieve, they will continue to escalate and sooner or later there will be a pattern of behavior that becomes intolerable for the US

Why is it so hard for any Democrat to just say “War with Iran is wrong, and we oppose it unequivocally” ?

This will be a major mistake by the E3 as it's bound to backfire/alienate the Iranians, who are already frustrated by Europe's inability to shield their economy against US sanctions + superficial expressions of "regret" in the face of US violations

Nothing is more pie-in-the-sky than believing there exists an alternative to the JCPOA for bridging the rupture caused by the US's unilateral withdrawal:
