- !! Now: not more than 3000 kids who were separated from family are in HHS custody
- 3000 is larger number than we’ve seen. By about 600 kids. But it may be smaller in fact. HHS says it is giving a max figure.

HHS says that may mean sending them to detention with parents, though they are hoping to avoid that.
