The genesis for Viki started with Razmig and a class project by a group of Stanford and Harvard graduate students who wanted to make language learning fun by creating a tool to subtitle YouTube videos. That idea evolved into what Viki is today, the online destination for tens of millions of fans to watch and engage in premium licensed TV shows and movies from all over the world. As co-founder and first CEO, Razmig led Viki through its 2010 launch, its $25M in funding with the likes of Greylock, Andreessen Horowitz and the BBC, its exponential growth, and joining the Rakuten Group of companies in late 2013.

He currently serves as Executive Chairman of Viki and Senior Executive Officer, Global Contents Business, for Rakuten. Prior to Viki, Razmig worked at NBC Universal, where he served as SVP for its International Studio Ventures arm and oversaw funding and the development of international productions and content. Prior to that role, he was the Acting VP of Strategic Initiatives and Analysis for NBC Universal’s West Coast offices. Earlier in his career, Razmig worked on new media engagements with firms including the Mitchell Madison Group in the United States and Europe, and Dentsu in Japan. Razmig also is co-founder and joint patent holder of Embrace, an organization that has developed a $25 infant incubator for the developing world. His social ventures include working in Sudan for the United Nations to set up private-public investment initiatives and with Ashoka in the US. Razmig holds an MBA from Stanford University Graduate School of Business, and a bachelor’s degree in Political Economy from University of California at Berkeley, graduating magna cum laude.

Tammy has dedicated her career to growing fan-powered Internet companies. Prior to assuming the CEO position in early 2015, she managed Viki’s exponential growth as the company’s Chief Marketing Officer and General Manager of the Americas. Prior to joining Viki, she was SVP of Marketing at Scribd, the social reading site with more than 80 million users, and the head of PR and marketing at Slide, a social entertainment company started by PayPal founder Max Levchin and acquired by Google.

Tammy has nearly 20 years of experience working with consumer, web and mobile brands such as Akamai, Helio, Visa and Starbucks to grow leadership positions and identify new opportunities. A graduate of Northwestern University, Tammy studied journalism and economics and was named one of Top 25 Women to Watch in Tech by AlwaysOn.

Rohit is leading the charge to redefine the future of TV — one line of code at a time. He oversees the product, engineering and content operations teams at Viki and provides general management for our offices in Asia. In addition, Rohit serves as an Executive Officer at Rakuten. Prior to Viki, Rohit was the founder of MeetHi, Inc., a social gaming studio based in Silicon Valley, and also operated a boutique e-commerce site that generated more than $1 million in annual revenue.

Rohit has previously held positions at various technology startups in social gaming, network security and web services. He also was one of the early engineers working on key products in Cisco’s enterprise VoIP business unit that quickly grew into a multibillion-dollar business. Rohit holds six U.S. patents. He has a bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering from McGill University with a minor in International Development Studies.

At the heart of Viki is our great licensed premium TV shows and movies from all over the world. Joanne oversees all content acquisition and guides the overall programming strategy for the company. Prior to joining Viki, Joanne was Senior Vice President of Business Development and Programming at MobiTV, where she was responsible for the company’s video programming strategy, all content licensing, media-related business development and content operations.

Joanne also has held key positions in sales and marketing at Viacom, including Director of Marketing at VH1, where she led the rebranding and relaunch of the VH1 digital channels and helped position VH1 Classic for broad cable and satellite distribution. Before entering the world of sales and marketing, Joanne worked in television production for MTV, VH1, fX, PBS and Lifetime. Joanne has a bachelor’s degree from Columbia University in Political Science.

Alex has the rare combination of true technical and business acumen and brings his extensive expertise in cloud services, e-commerce and global business. He oversees all products and features at Viki with the goal of delivering the best user experience. Prior to joining Viki in 2015, Alex spent 10 years at Microsoft, where some of his many accomplishments include helping to launch the R&D center in Shanghai and drive the company’s overall R&D strategy in China. He also led the development of Microsoft’s Commerce and Payment Services platforms. Alex’s past work experiences include being a founding member of a new business venture for networking infrastructure at Cisco Systems. He has served as President of the Chinese Software Professionals Association and a SIG Chair of SVForum, both nonprofit organizations in Silicon Valley that foster entrepreneurship.

Alex is a self-proclaimed world citizen, having lived, studied and worked in Hong Kong, China, Canada and the United States, and loves to learn and experience new cultures. Alex has an MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. He also has a bachelor’s degree from The Chinese University of Hong Kong and a master’s from the University of Waterloo, both in computer science. Alex holds numerous patents for networking and workflow technologies.

Bob brings together extraordinarily talented people to work on our mission of providing global entertainment to the rest of the world. He oversees Viki’s 95+ employees in the San Francisco, Singapore, Seoul, Tokyo and Shanghai offices, who together represent 17 different nationalities and speak 15 different languages. Bob brings 20 years of extensive expertise in international human resources, organizational development, global recruiting and staffing, and compensations and benefits to help drive Viki’s growth and market position.

Prior to joining Viki in 2013, Bob also held HR leadership positions at Tapjoy, Slide (acquired by Google), Gracenote (acquired by Sony), Sprint Nextel, and Securify (acquired by McAfee). Bob has a bachelor’s degree in Human Resources from San Jose State University and a master’s in Organizational Development from University of San Francisco.

Sam brings nearly a decade of experience in building and leading finance and operations teams to Viki. He currently oversees thecompany’s finance, accounting, legal, business operations and sales functions.

Prior to joining Viki in 2012, Sam led various finance and business operations functions at YuMe, a San Francisco-based video advertising company, and at Yahoo!. Sam has a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics & Economics from the University of California at Los Angeles.
