Beautiful equivalent to iMessage This app is a beautiful alternative to iMessage, I would love to be able share location like iMessage and for allo to be integrated as more of the default messaging application. I love allo!

Need something to move user to this app Google no doubt u rock in everything, our daily life is complete without u. This app Got a assistant too and it looks awesome, it would be great if u add voice calls and video calls. U kept a separate app for video calls (Google Duo) that's something which sucks. Plz integrate into Allo that would be great. I have gone through the games, i feel so awesome using this app. U should include some other games of card for playing with friends and some games like chess. 5 starts waiting for you, love you Google

No default SMS. There is still no truly default SMS option. That means other messaging apps are still the default and have to be involved with messaging invariably. The user base is still relatively small, so there is little likelihood of use the full capacities of the app. If it worked together with Duo, that'd be better too. With a name Duo you'd think the two would work together, but nope. Hoping they get a better footing to compete with Facebook and apple that seem to have tethered their users tightly by the balls.

It is OK... Want SMS integration, need to give ability to make default, ability to use Allo on a computer, ability to save picture if drawn on before sending, and force everyone to ditch their messaging app made by the manufacturer and force them to Allo. If you want to be as good or better than iOS messenger you need to deliver same functions or go beyond. Granted when I saw iOS messenger with their whisper/shout function I cringed a little. 3 stars may be a little generous but I just want more from this app.

No sync, no web app, backwards step What is Google playing at lately? Hangouts combines text chat, voice and video while seamlessly syncing across platforms and devices. Enter allo and duo, two heavyweight apps that do less between them than Hangouts on its own. And this is the future? I don't understand where you're going with this. I certainly don't want to follow.

No notification on incoming message It used be fun with my oppo find 7. But once I change to oppo F1s the notification of the apps no more function. Try look into all setting and enable all notification still the apps doesnt work properly when message come in. So now i have to keep open the apps and let the apps run to update status of incoming message. Pls fix this.

Android needs Allo, but Allo needs work I gotta say that Apple has a huge advantage in that each iPhone has iMessage and that it works perfectly... It works so well that people actually switch over due to it. So I was pretty excited about Allo... But it needs a lot of work. There's no default SMS option, and if you're messaging a non-user, it sends an awkward message about me using Allo before my message (with an extra "Tim: " before it). And it doesn't integrate with Duo. It should come default on Android if Google wants people to adopt it.

Not as good as Hangouts There is no reason to install this app over other messengers such as Hangouts. The app is tied to your phone number instead of your Google account, so there isn't a way to continue conversations on your desktop. No video chat support. No SMS. It's simply a step back from Google Hangouts. The Google Assistant integration is nice, but that is something the developers could have integrated into Hangouts.

Unable to select themes post re-install Although allo is a brilliant app and i really do love using it, now I am unable to change the default apps that I was able to do earlier. I had mistakenly uninstalled the app and reinstalled it and post that only the default theme is applicable. Still i am giving a 5 star rating to this app because of the ease and user interface which is awesome!

Too limited I had high hopes for this as a replacement for hangouts, but it is no where near as feature rich as hangouts. I use multiple devices during the day, pc, android phones and Apple iPad. Hangouts not only works on all but syncs across them. Allo is number based and requires SMS, so there is no pc app, and of course tablets usually don't have SMS with their data numbers so no good there either. And since it is number based it registers to each device and deregisters from the previous one. So no sync

Great until you realize where it's lacking Downloaded, saw it was beautiful, loved Assistant, was about to switch over to Allo from Facebook messenger until I realized there's no way to make audio/video calls (Um, Duo? This can't be integrated?), there's no desktop version, and it can't be my default SMS app. Major fails. I use Messenger because I have it downloaded to my Windows PC, I can make audio/video calls right from the conversation window, and I have SMS/messages all together. Looks like I'm staying with Messenger, unfortunately. :(

Set for default sms I absolutely love this messaging app everything about it but if there was a way this can be set as a default messaging app I'll keep it. I prefer this way more than Google messenger. my only problem with it otherwise is it doesn't send me notifications, even when other allo users message me, I have the lastest version on Samsung Galaxy s5, please fix this, and PLEASE let us make this a default SMS app.

It's ok. It would be nice if SMS could be merged with Allo. Also, nice imessage thing that I would like to see is the location sharing - one time, time limited or continous one. Stickers are ok I guess but no one can beat the Legcat from Viber. Having a Google Duo button for immediate calls from the message window would be cool. Edit: I decided to give it 1 star for couple of reasons: Google doesn't provide with the feedback, they don't listen to their users (guess that's why G+ didn't work out) ...

Great Start This is a fun, light weight messenger. Lots of cool features. Would love if it got desktop and multiple device support so I can move away from the drab hangouts app. Once that happens I'm bringing my friends on board. Also, I would love full SMS support rather than simply using it as a tool to recruit others to use the app. This has tons of potential so keep it moving forward!

Meh Another chat app and this one comes without SMS. No luck getting anyone I know to install it. What is the incentive? Should have upgraded hangouts to this instead of making a new application. I don't see how this can succeed when it lacks so many features. How many messaging apps does google want us to install?

I like it, but a good tutorial would be nice. Also, there's a weird static sound if I'm in a conversation and send or receive a message. If I'm out of the conversation a notification plays when a message comes in. The only way I can use this app is with the volume all the way down, which is just no. I'll be looking for updates. Once the bugs get worked out I'll give it another shot.

Very streamline and easy to use The app "feels" nice. My only qualm about it is that you can't set it as the default SMS app and it won't download all of your messages from your default SMS app. A little more customization the theme and general layout would also be nice. Custom text bubbles, colors, and such. These are things I hope Google will add in the future.

At least it's better than hangouts Great app but it will never be perfect until true SMS integration is added, And when the Google Assistant is less buggy. Also, why are images that you receive are saved to your Gallery? I know it's for caching images but storing it in your gallery is pretty weird. Overall though, the app is great, but has some quirks that need to be fixed.

Great, but should get better with time. Allo—powered by the AI capabilities of Google Assistant—is a robust chat messenger by Google. But it needs to get better with time; it needs some refinement and polishing of rough edges. The auto responses are fantastic though. Gimmicky tidbits add to the experience. But it still lacks some basic capabilities offered by rivals like WhatsApp and Facebook's Messenger. On the whole, a great product.

SMS support plsss This feels and looks so good, but the whole thing would be so much more useful if it had full SMS/MMS capabilities. Maybe y'all are holding out and will throw us a bone like you did with Hangouts. No one wants to download a new app to just to text one or two friends with, please make it useful for ~everyone~. I want to love this and use it forever, but not just with just a handful of friends who also want to experiment with new Google apps.

It's not that hard this could be a Skype and iMessage killer if you inihrated a default messager and Google voice I didn't buy this pixel for nothing I want a amazing message app you need to give me one. What it has is not good enough this needs to be a one stop messenger like FB messenger please add the ability for just a email so people with ipods can use it too

Just not there yet I'm sure eventually Allo could be good, if Google doesn't get bored with it. No true SMS, pretty much latched to one device and no web interface, really all make it a no go for me. I would love for this to be an iMessage rival but it isn't even in the same league.

It works great Most of the people complaining are just throwing tantrums because the app didn't fit in their little frame of thought as to what the Allo was supposed to do. The facts is Allo is a great chatting platform. Google Assistant might seem like a gimmick if you only play around with it but once you start using Allo in real conversations that matter to you, you quickly realize how helpful and versatile Google Assistant really is. Most of the complaining revolves around Allo not having SMS fall-back.

This app could have been so great! This app could have been so great but definitely missed the mark. One huge gripe is the fact that if I'm not messaging someone that has Google allo, it doesn't use your number and a bunch of functionality is lost. This is not an sms app for those wondering. And cannot be used like one even if you wanted. This app should have been able to function both as an sms app for those without google allo and use your number as well as function how it does with Google assistant for those who have google allo.

I was using Assistant, which Google bought. It at least had a voice and could respond. With no voice this is no longer a hands free device if you have to read every reply it makes. My previous one could read text messages out loud. This is not an app for a person on the go, unless they are walking everywhere. I wish you had not put my existing personal assistant into mothballs so it no longer works.

2 people I know use this app, and it's because I asked them to. Something wrong with that. Please add sms fallback functionality. Without this feature this app won't gain the desired traction (I told you) nor can I get people to use it! iMessage for example is a great messenger. It's so good and it's the default which means most people use it out of the box but keep using it because there's no need to use anything else. Desktop client, duo integration, etc etc etc!!! Why is this taking so long? The longer it takes the more users go to the competition! Smh

Pretty spiffy app, but no desktop component, and no incentive to getting my friends on the app. Please quit fragmenting your messaging apps, and consolidate them. The average user is confused when they see Hangouts, Messenger, and Allo. There's no killer feature that can get me to convince folks to download and try Allo. Sad that I can't run Allo from multiple devices with the same account, also.

Potential is there but missing so many features I was excited for Allo. It was supposed to be THE iMessage alternative for Android that we've needed for so long. When it released I was shocked by the fact that it wasn't & couldn't be the 1 and ONLY app I need. No instead of having one great, simple and end to end encrypted text app that can handle all your messaging needs like iMessage, we stil need to use 2 apps. No integration with Android Auto or Ok Google are other disappointments. 1 app that does everything is better than 5 apps that do 1 thing each

Google Voice with Assistant Add-On Texts don't go show up here. Unable to set Allo as default SMS app. Can send SMS for free through Google or something, it asks you what you want to do if the contact doesn't have Allo. Just like Facebook Messenger. The assistant is mostly useless. Doesn't do any of the stuff Google Home can or even Amazon Echo linked to Google Calendar for that matter. So, what's the point? Uninstalling!

Oh Allo Great app with nice features with icon packs that actually get updated. Google, please for the love of pizza, add Allo's features and Duo's tech to Hangouts. You've got a great number of people already on that platform. Just improve it and kill Allo. Microsoft got it right with when soereating personal messaging and video conferencing with Skype and Skype for Business.

It's OK I have managed to get all my friends to start using Allo, (even the terrible iPhone users) but it definitely needs some work. The user interface rocks don't get me wrong, but the lack of sms really got me down. The other problem is that I can't access Allo from my computer. If those two things were added, I think Allo users would be a lot happier. I truly do love allo, and I enjoy that Google is putting out a competitor to iMessage, but it just needs a tad more work. Version 1 not bad.

Could be good. This app looks good, works great, fun features... but is not for SMS. It's a "between allo user's" app. If your friend don't txt you using allo you won't be able to answer back in allo. Useless but maybe one day it'll find its way to the top messaging apps.

Huge battery waster I really like Allo, but it drains my battery in the background. I started my day at 7am barely used my phone besides listening to music and by 8pm my Pixel was almost dead because Allo (which I didn't even use that day) was on in the background eating up all my battery power. I won't use this app again until it's battery consumption is fixed.

Swing and a miss So the good: pretty, smooth, Assistant is entertaining. The bad: everything else - no true SMS support, spams those who don't have allo to install the app, slave to one device, no one in my contacts uses allo, useless app. I can't believe this is Google's best messaging effort. Undilute and refine your offerings or give it up.

Still just another useless chat app. Still no SMS or Hangouts integration. Spams people who don't use the app. Not available on desktop. What good is a chat app if you can't use it to talk to your contacts? You can't capture chat market share with something that is so isolated. Any potential feature is a waste of resources if no one is using the app.

Needs true SMS! Would love the app to adjust the SMS feature. When I message someone that doesn't have the app installed I show up as a five digit number on their phone, not my saved contact. In reverse, when someone sends me an SMS it shows on my other messaging app. If they fix this it would get 5 stars. In my opinion that's the only thing holding it back from being my "go to" message app.
