Russian navy changes plan to refuel in Spain

Russia has withdrawn a request for three of its warships to refuel in a Spanish port en route to Syria, the Spanish foreign ministry has told the BBC. The ministry said Russia changed its mind after Spain asked for "clarification" whether the ships would take part in strikes on Aleppo. Nato allies had earlier voiced concern over the refuelling arrangements amid an international outcry over civilian deaths in Syria.
