Many Cosplayers create their own outfits, referencing images of the characters in the process. In the creation of the outfits, much time is given to detail, thus the skill of a Cosplayer may be measured by how difficult the details of the outfit are or how well they have been replicated. The appearance of Cosplayers at public events makes them a popular draw for photographers. As the popularity of Cosplay gets bigger, many conventions have come to feature a contest surrounding Cosplay, as Disney's D23 Expo does.
