According to Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, the deal President Obama negotiated with Iran was the worst deal America has ever negotiated with another country. The relationship and partnership with Israel, however, was the best deal the United States has ever made.

In his new book titled “Crippled America,” Trump writes that the nuclear deal President Barack Obama negotiated with Iran was “the worst I have ever seen.”

“Why when Iran was struggling financially would he agree to a nuclear deal that releases billions of dollars’ worth of assets, which will further subsidize their terrorism business? It makes no sense,” Trump asserts. “The deal President Obama negotiated with Iran was the worst I have ever seen. We couldn’t have done worse .. Obama put his ‘legacy’ on the line and before we walked into negotiations, the mullahs knew he had to have a deal or end up looking even more incompetent, so they fleeced him. Disgraceful.”

“We literally paid them to force us to accept a terrible deal,” Trump suggests. “That would be like me beginning negotiations to build another magnificent skyscraper along the Hudson with 50-mile views in all directions, and walking out with approval to put up a small three-story building facing a wall. Iran got what it wanted and in return gave up.”
As long as the ayatollah regime remains in power, he assumes, “Iran will be our enemy and a threat to Israel’s existence.” And therefore, the U.S. must take Ali Khamenei’s threats seriously “and act accordingly.”
Had he been commander in chief over the past two years, Trump writes he would “have laid down certain conditions that had to be agreed to, starting with the release of our four prisoners. I wouldn’t have settled for less than a complete dismantling of all their nuclear facilities, destruction of all their centrifuges, and on-site inspections anytime, anywhere.”

Going forward, Trump says the nest president will not be able to disavow the deal or put in place a system that would put sanctions back in place unilaterally. But he thinks that “there is always a loophole, we need to find it, and if necessary, they will pay -big-league dollars.”
“Whatever it takes, whatever we have to do, Iran cannot be allowed to build a nuclear weapon,” he declares. Adding that to deal with the Iranian nuclear threats, he’d be “happy to sit down” with Iranian leaders “when they understand that the best course for them, if they want to be a major player in the civilized world, is to close down their entire nuclear program.”

An Iran with a nuclear weapon “would force us to use extreme measures in defense of Israel and other allies in the region” and “that’s not going to happen, whatever Iran might think right now.”
The Republican presidential hopeful also touts his fondness of the Jewish people and the State of Israel. “I always loved and admired the Jewish people and supported the special relationship we have with Israel,” Trump states. “The next president has to restore our traditionally strong partnership. We have been there for Israel and will continue to be there for Israel, because it is the one stable democracy in that region.”

Trump often calls America’s political leadership stupid for not being able to negotiate good deals in trading with other countries. However, in the book he singles out Israel and a “fair trading partner” and “a fellow pioneer on the frontiers of medicine, communications, technology, and energy development,” which “will benefit both of our nations well into the future.”

A new Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Tuesday showed that 41 percent of Republican voters trusted Trump to deal with foreign leaders, and 34 percent would trust him handling the nation’s nuclear weapons.

How some Jewish mathematicians helped win WWII for America, and also contributed to America's intellectual growth following the war. 

Many people are familiar with the Manhattan Project, which produced the atom bomb that helped the USA defeat Japan during WWII.  The project was headed by a Jew, Robert Oppenheimer, and a number of other Jewish scientists and mathematicians also worked on the project, including Richard Feynman, future Nobel Prize winner in Physics, and John von Neumann, the father of game-theory, and modern-day computer algorithms, among many other things.  These names are fairly well known, but, there was another group of mathematicians also working to assist America win WWII.  Many of these mathematicians were Jewish, and their contributions have slipped through public awareness. 

In fighting the war, the US government established the Statistical Research Group (SRG), which, unlike the Manhattan Project, really was located in Manhattan.  There were numerous mathematical issues involved in winning the war against the Axis forces.  For example, if a fighter pilot makes a turn, while in combat, what would be the optimal curve the fighter pilot should undertake in order to keep the enemy airplane in its sights?  All optimization problems involve mathematics.  Other optimization problems included strategic bombing runs, what was the best ammunition load for fighter planes, what was the best rocket propellant to use for rockets, what was the best way to design a hand-grenade, etc. 

Some of the Jewish mathematicians employed at the SRG included the following:  Jack Wolfowitz; Abe Girshick; Leonard Jimmie Savage, who invented decision theory and did innovative work in the field of Bayesian statistics; Norbert Weiner, the creator of cybernetics; and Milton Friedman, who would later win a Nobel Prize in Economics.  His undergraduate work was in mathematics. 

However, perhaps the smartest mathematician employed by the SRG was Abraham Wald, who had to flee from the Nazis.  In fact, one of the ironies regarding his contribution was that since he was not a citizen of the USA, but of an enemy country, he was not officially allowed to read the classified documents that he wrote! 

One contribution Wald made to the war effort was in figuring out the optimum placement of armor on fighter planes.  This is a mathematics problem because if one covers the entire plane in extra armor, it is optimally protected, but, it will be sluggish in combat and use a lot of fuel.  However, too little armor plating, and the plane will be too vulnerable.  So, one question asked of him was where to locate the armor plates most effectively on fighter planes. 

The military brass who posed this question to him thought that since most planes that returned from combat had few holes in the engine compartment, but a lot in the fuselage, that they should place the extra armor plating on the fuselage.  They were ready to do just that when they wanted Wald to confirm their assessment. 

Wald told them that they made a false assumption in assuming that the planes that returned from combat represented the planes that did not return.  Since the planes that returned had few bullet holes in the engine, this could only be explained in one of two ways:  1.  Either the German fighters were missing the engines or 2.  the German pilots that were successful in shooting the engines were successful in shooting down our planes.  The second explanation makes a lot more sense.  So, Wald explained to the military brass that they needed to place the extra armor where the bullet holes were not present, and not where they were.  The fact the planes could return with a lot of bullet holes in the fuselage meant that the fuselage did not need extra protection.  The fact planes returned with few holes in the engine, meant that the protection was needed in the engine area of the plane.  Those planes that were hit a lot in the engine, never returned. 

These contributions to the war effort made the military more effective, and helped us win the war. 

In case people are wondering if it is merely coincidence that Jews are good at mathematics, this is unlikely.  Throughout Jewish writings, abstract thinking is present, especially when it comes to ideas such as the basis for morality, what is God and how could one conceive of God, are moral claims always universal, and if so, what happens when moral claims conflict with one another, etc....?  Mathematics involves abstract thinking, since every mathematical object is an abstract creation, so it is not surprising that since Jewish culture is surrounded with abstract thinking that Jews manage to do well in an abstract field like mathematics.  Despite being about 0.25 of 1% of the world's population, Jews have won about 25% of all Fields Medals in mathematics.

Donald Trump ‘Disavows’ David Duke’s Remarks on ‘Jewish Extremists’.

In response to calls from the Anti-Defamation League, Donald J. Trump recently said that he “disavows” comments by David Duke, the former Ku Klux Klan leader, about “Jewish extremists” who opposed his candidacy.

It is the latest instance of Mr. Duke praising Mr. Trump, who was condemned by politicians across the spectrum months ago for refusing to explicitly disavow Mr. Duke, a white supremacist who has exalted the the Manhattan businessman’s political rise. Mr. Trump has previously rebutted the criticisms by saying he had disavowed Mr. Duke on other occasions.

“Jewish chutzpah knows no bounds,” Mr. Duke said on his radio program, excoriating some of the donors involved in the “Stop Trump” movement. Those donors include the billionaire financier Paul Singer, a Jew for whom Israel’s security is a primary focus in determining the candidates he backs.

“I think these Jewish extremists have made a terribly crazy miscalculation because all they’re really going to be doing by doing the ‘Never Trump’ movement is exposing their alien, their anti-American-majority position to all the Republicans,” Mr. Duke said. “And they’re going to push people more into awareness that the neo-cons are the problem, that these Jewish supremacists who control our country are the real problem and the reason why America is not great.”

Jonathan Greenblatt, the chief executive of the Anti-Defamation League, said in a statement that “David Duke’s latest remarks – smearing Jews and Jewish Republicans specifically – are as unsurprising as they are hateful.”

“The onus is now on Donald Trump to make unequivocally clear he rejects those sentiments and that there is no room for Duke and anti-Semitism in his campaign and in society,” he said. “Mr. Trump can and should speak up now. If not, his silence will speak volumes.”

Later Thursday, Mr. Trump said in a statement that he “totally disavows” Mr. Duke’s remarks.

“Antisemitism has no place our society, which needs to be united, not divided,” said Mr. Trump, who has been accused of using overtly racial appeals to motivate his largely white, working-class political base.

The Anti-Defamation League has criticized Mr. Trump before, and has redirected his previous donations to the group because of his remarks about Muslims and others. Mr. Trump has often cited his ties to the Jewish community, noting, for instance, that his son-in-law, Jared Kushner, is an Orthodox Jew, and that his daughter, Ivanka, converted to Judaism.
