Wispy clouds over El Capitan, Yosemite National Park. April, 2017. I usually make a stop here or nearby. The Merced River reflects the valley walls nicely. This time the clouds streamed over El Capitan in a way that needed a closer look.

This little phoebe was fun to photograph. He would flitter around but tended to come back to the same reeds. Shooting through the reeds is an exercise in manual focus, thinking fast, and not getting too hung up on the ones you miss. Somewhere in the CA central valley.


Debbie and I were asked by a Spanish tourist if we spent a lot of time in Yosemite. We looked at each other, laughed, and said "Yeah, I guess we do!"

I came across this little guy at Wilder Ranch today. I coaxed him along and off of the trail before he got hurt by a mountain bike. 

Training for another adventure. The new backpack needs some adjustments. I learned a lot today. I haven't gone backpacking in a long, long time. I have a trip coming up and it's time to train.

Meanwhile in the wetlands of the California central valley...
