There’s a lot of invaluable science to do on the Moon ahead of a human return. This budget helps us get back to the lunar surface with an additional $90M to enable a robotic explorer to scout the Moon’s polar regions before humans return in 2024:

Our mission is being named after Artemis, who was a sister to Apollo and goddess of the Moon. We're excited to be landing the first woman and next man on the surface of the Moon by 2024.

As its interior cools, the Moon shrinks, getting about 150+ feet skinnier over the last several hundred million years. A new look at data and images from our orbiter indicate that this cooling and shrinking on the Moon causes quakes:

Happy ! This cluster of newborn stars formed from a massive cloud of gas and dust that contains enough raw materials to create a thousand Sun-like stars. Celebrate your mom 1000 times over and share this interstellar rose with her:

There’s a lot of dust in space. Also called cosmic dust, scientists can learn a lot by looking at these flecks, which are usually smaller than a grain of sand & made of rock, ice, minerals or organic compounds:

Hanging out at Virginia Crew state championships to watch my son race. I love team sports of any kind because it teaches students 1) they can get better when they practice, 2) to work in teams, and 3) to lose. The boat won this heat - now onto the varsity finals!
