Hi
Why when running a Pages report and analysing the Previous page (page tracking) (p41) for let's say the homepage of the site (e.g. uk:home), you get also uk:home in the results as a previous page? How can the previous page of uk:home be uk:home...? it doesn't make any sense.
While the histogram is potentially useful and is easy to work with, I'm finding its lack of being able to handle calculated metrics and/or segments applied just to the visualization pretty limiting in how I'd want to use it. For example, I may just want to see portions of the site, certain types of devices, certain products.
I did find that you can have a segment on the panel and the histogram seems to apply something. However, there are many cases where you wouldn't want that segment applied to your other tables so this isn't a great solution either (you'd have to have your histograms in a separate panel). I'm also not 100% sure how it is handling these segments. For example, I have a hit segment applied that looks at one specific page on my site that does not have any file downloads. However, if I look at a histogram for file downloads, I see data there. Is this looking at files downloaded by anybody who had hit that page in their visit (or visitor level depending on your counting method setting)?

As the new alert system for all of Adobe Analytics, Intelligent Alerts let you create and manage alerts in Analysis Workspace, complete with alert preview and rule contribution. You can
Build alerts based on anomalies (90%, 95%, or 99% thresholds; % change; above/below).
Preview how often an alert will trigger.
Send alerts by e-mail or SMS with links to auto-generated Analysis Workspace projects.
Create "stacked" alerts that capture multiple metrics in a single alert.
Customer Journey (Fallout and Flow) in Analysis Workspace
The new Fallout feature bring funnel functionality to Analysis Workspace to enable you to build robust funnels with new visualizations and the inherent flexibility that Analysis Workspaceprovides.
The new Flow feature lets you view customer flow/journey through sites/apps via new, updated and flexible visualizations in Analysis Workspace. You can discover how customers are moving and progressing through their sites/apps.
Anomaly Detection and Contribution Analysis in Analysis Workspace
Lets you know if a change in trended data is significant, and what caused it.
Both Anomaly Detection and Contribution Analysis are now core workflows in Analysis Workspace. You can automatically detect statistically significant data anomalies in your data, then run Contribution Analysis against any daily anomaly and embed it in your Analysis Workspace project.
Important: Contribution Analysis is available only to Adobe Analytics Premium customers.
The new histogram visualization in Analysis Workspace allows customers to visualize distributions of customer behavior quickly and easily. You can set up custom bucket sizes, starting bucket and number of buckets for the visualization and then automatically generate segments to address each bucket and generate a histogram. You can identify high-value or low-value users.
Starter Projects provide useful templates for common use cases.
When you open Workspace, you will see a number of Starter Projects in the left rail. They are grouped by the vertical or platform they belong to: Media, Mobile, Retail, and Web. They come pre-populated with different dimensions, segments, metrics, and visualizations, depending on the report suite. You can use these pre-populated templates as they are, or adapt them to your needs.
Updated the look and feel of the left rail in Segment Builder and Calculated Metric Builder to look like Analysis Workspace.
Added “Count Repeat Instances” as a project level setting (Project > Project Info & Settings). This setting specifies whether repeat instances are counted in reports. If you have multiple sequential values for the same variable, you can count them either as one or as multiple instances of the variable.
Added a new button called "Apply to All Panels" next to "Cancel" and "Run" in the Calendar. Changed "Run" to "Apply". If you click the new button, it will not only change the selected date range for the current panel, but also for all other panels within the project.
Added an “Actions” button on the left navigation rail that features these actions: Tag, Favorite, Approve, Share (new!), Delete (new!).
Added a filter to the search bar that lets you filter on tags, favorites, approved items, and components.
Added a preview icon to static rows (not to dynamic rows which list dimension items) that lets you preview segments, metrics, date ranges.
For visualizations, we added a right-click option called Start Over from the context menu (will work for Flow, Venn, Histogram), which deletes the configuration for the current visualization and opens a new panel where you can re-configure it.
A new visualization setting called "Legend Visible" lets you hide the filter details text for the Summary Number/Summary Change visualization.
A new visualization setting for Summary Change visualizations lets you “Show Difference” between 2 percentages. For non-percentage values, if you select the “Show Difference” option, it will show a number.
Adjusted the number of rows for time dimensions.
Updates to Permission Management
Admin > User Management > Groups
Administrator Access
Group membership is no longer required for administrators. By default, administrators now have access to all items (tools, dimensions, and metrics), as well as Web Service access, Report Builder, Activity Map, and Ad Hoc Analysis.
Custom Groups
Predefined groups are no longer used. All predefined groups have been replaced by custom groups of the same name. Administrators can delete these groups and create their own, as all settings that were previously available in the predefined groups are available for customization.
Use groups to grant or restrict access for non-administrative users. For example, you can delete all the migrated groups and replace them with a single group that grants access to Report Builder, Activity Map, Ad-Hoc Analysis, Reports & Analytics Access, Analysis Workspace Access, and so on.
The Report Access section in Groups > Add New User Group has been streamlined to four categories, which enable you to customize permissions at a granular level. The new permission categories include:
Analytics Tools: Formerly Company Tools, includes General items (billing, logs, etc.), Company Management, Tools, Web Service Access, Report Builder, and Data Connectors integration. Privileges previously obtained from predefined groups are in this category. Existing, predefined groups have been added to this category.
Report Suite Tools: Includes report suite management, tools and reports, dashboard items, and so on.
Metrics: Includes traffic, conversion, custom events, solution events, and so on.
Dimensions:
eVars 1-250 are individually permissioned.
All traffic reports are dimensions.
Video & Mobile reports are dimensions, as well as other Analytics solutions reports (Experience Manager, Media Optimizer, Social, and do on.)
Pathing reports are available if a user has access to the parent dimension.
All current dimensions and metrics within custom groups have been automatically migrated to the new categories. If an existing group has metrics enabled, it will be given all newly permissionable dimensions (eVars and content aware) and metrics by default.
Classifications Importer (formerly, SAINT) permissions: Access to classifications is determined by access to the variable on which the classification is based.
As part of the permission changes, a custom group has replaced the All Report Accesspredefined group. This custom group has access to:
All Dimensions
All Metrics
All Report Suites
Channel Report Permission
Anomaly Detection Report Permission
Real-Time Report Permission
Analysis Workspace Access Permission
Web Service Access
Reports & Analytics Access
Create/Curate Projects
Metric Creation
Segment Creation
At release, all customers will be migrated. Every user that used to be in All Report Access will be added to the new custom group.
Defunct Traffic Reports have been removed
These defunct reports will be removed:
Monthly Summary
Visitor Home Page
Netscape Plugins
Key Visitors
Pages Viewed By Key Visitors
Visitor Snapshot
DRM
Net Protocols
Java Version
Bookmark URL Length
Device Number Transmit
PTT
Decoration Mail Support
Information
Information Service
These reports:
Can still be accessed by Bookmarks.
Are not included in new Dimensions permission category.
Can no longer have their permissions edited.
Will retain access for custom groups with current access.
Report Builder 5.4
Better management and editing of segments across multiple requests. New options under Edit Multiple Requests let you add, remove, replace, and replace all segment(s) within multiple target requests.

I'm trying to figure what the difference is between metrics "Average Time Spent on Site" and "Time Spent per Visitor".
Here is the documentation for "Average Time Spent on Site". Definition: "Average Time Spent on Site is the amount of time (in minutes) users have spent on your site across all visits."
There is no specific page for "Time Spent Per Visitor" (why not?), but I did find it referenced in the "Time Spent" page. Definition: "Represents the time spent for a visitor during the selected date range.
For example, if a visitor made 5 visits to the site during the selected date range, and spent a total of 40 minutes on the site, Time Spent metrics (per visitor and visits) are calculated as follows:
Time Spent per Visit (40 mins, 5 visits) = 8 minutes
Time Spent per Visitor (40 mins, 1 visitor) = 40 minutes"
Now if I just look at the definitions, these are the same metrics! You're getting the time spent per user across all their visits. Why are there these two metrics?
In practice, however, these two metrics do not yield the same values. It appears that Average Time Spent on Site is always lower than Time Spent per Visitor. I can recreate the Time Spent per Visitor well enough using Total Seconds Spent and Unique Visitors using a single page visit segment. This is not 100% accurate since we can get the time for a single page visit if there's an event that takes place on that single page visit (other than the page load), but for some reason in AA you cannot segment out Visits that are Bounces (why?! but that's a separate story). What I cannot reproduce is Average Time Spent on Site. The documentation actually does not explain how this is calculated.
So, how are these two metrics different? How specifically is Average Time Spent on Site calculated?
I've a question about tracking downloads in Adobe Analytics. How can I see the dowloads links listed by page were it's located. Is there any implementation needed in order to see this values?
I am trying to figure out how to implement video Heartbeat. We currently use Wistia for our videos. I am also using DTM. Can someone tell me how to implement the use of Video Heartbeat. I tried reading the documentation, but I'm still not clear on what I need to do. I did download the Java SDK file for Heartbeat. Should I then add that complete sdk directly onto my site or through DTM? Also do I need to add some API for Wistia? Finally how do I then assign variables to track video data. This is all new implementation so I do not have any assigned variables for any previous video tracking.
Hi everyone, I get this message "ERROR undefined Please submit this error id to Adobe Client Care for further diagnosis: auth-362f3b63-15e0-4880-9be6-5b6a3c0211f6", how can I resolve it? thanks a lot
I want to know if the s.pageName is not set on the page, will the URL be captured instead.
Example 1: Here the value is not available but the PageName syntax is available
s.pageName= " ";
I know the url will be captured here.
Example 2: What if even the s.pageName= " " is not available in the page (Means the whole syntax of s.pageName= " " is not available on the page, what will be the result)
Will this lead to URL data getting reported in page name report in SiteCat
Can you please help me to get an answer for Example 2
I was trying to match some events for clicks at a hit level for Cart Adds, and was unsure of why the numbers differed between the Ad-Hoc Tool and my aggregations.
I'm trying to understand the structure of that column a little bit better and was wondering if an event could be listed more than once per row?
I.e.
(2,12,14,12) is listed out, so I would know that cart adds occured twice?
or is it structured as (2,12=2,14) which would be a different method of lookup?
In total I built four projects. In two of these projects the PDF download works just fine. In the other two I receive the error message:
"ERROR
An error has occurred with the download process. Please try again later."
Now the interesting thing in the two non-working projects is that when I decide to "Show Data Source" for one particular visualization, the export works fine. If I decide to keep this particular data source table hidden, it won't let me export the PDF. Unfortunately, the data source table doesn't provide any benefit to be shown, so I want it to be hidden when generating the pdf.
Already tried to rebuild this visualization, but it didnt make any difference. Any ideas?
I am using Adobe Analytics (Omniture) to keep track of our OTT platform.
How can I check the hourly stream initiations per month/week in Adobe Omniture? We use different report suites to keep track of the traffic coming up on different devices such as Desktop, Mobile, XBOX.
Even though I can check hourly stream initiations, by default it only shows me data on “Day” basis. For example, If I want to check hourly stream initiations for the month of August, by default, information is broken down by each day of the month. (please see enclosed file).
So, instead of day basis, it would be nice to see the consolidated number for different periods of time (week, month, quarter, year) on hour basis
Russ said it would be ok to share other resources in here too. Maybe we should post these Workspace specific resources to this same thread?
Recently, I have published few blog posts and shared my learnings about Workspace. Hopefully some new information, at least to new Workspace users. Please share your Workspace resources (outside Adobe). Thanks.
According to the manuals and all the forums relating to the metric "Average Time Spent on Page" it should be available on the report @ Site Content -> Pages.
But, it simply does not appear on the list of available metrics.
Myself is Mahendra Singh here . I do have 12 years IT experience as developer. I heard that Adobe Analytics tool is hot cake of market and want to learn it so have few below question :-
1). is it a admin tool or there is anything for developer too ?
Hi - I've been migrating a dashboard from "traditional" AA into a Workspace, but I'm having trouble with one specific report. I've done a forum search here, checked the AA Youtube channel, and dug through the documentation but I'm still stuck.
This workspace is for tracking a bunch of details about a new modal we deployed, and one of the graphs is to determine where people are arriving at the modal's FAQ from. Effectively, when Prop 4 (Page Type) is MODAL_FAQ, what was the Previous Page's Prop 4 value. When I click the "Try in Workspace" button in my original report, I just get a freeform table listing all of my Prop 4 values but none of the pathing work (effectively, just a raw Prop 4 report).
Is Pathing just not supported in workspace yet? Or am I missing something?
I thought I'd put this here rather than a customer care ticket. I can do a ticket if you want.
When we do a 'segment comparison' project in analysis workspace and don't compare two defined segments but let analysis workspace create the 'everyone else' segment which is the inverse of the segment we created a couple of odd things happen:
1) the 'everyone else' segment that is created for the workspace run gets pushed to the cloud. We can see it in the cloud in the audiences section (everyone else in cloud.jpg). and the 2 shown have been 'gathering data for over 2 weeks.(everyone else in cloud.jpg)
2) there is no 'everyone else' segment in analytics segment manager: everyone else in analytics.jpg
3) and worse of all. The segment pushed to the cloud with no-analytics segment is also showing up in audience manager: everyone else in AAM.jpg
this means that we have multiple (one industrious user compared over 100 segments to the inverse segments so we got 100 segments called 'everyone else' in the cloud, AAM and Target.
I think this is a bug. Especially since in AAM there is an integration code saying it came from analytics so we can't even see how the trait/segment is defined. Unfortunately some of the segments being compared to 'everyone else' were duplicates created by several different users so all the names/descriptions are the same. but the segment definitions in analytics are different: everyone else in AAM detail.jpg
in any event having analysis workspace not clean up after itself is a bug that really needs to get fixed. Not only does having random traits/segments created in the cloud give us a maintenance/governance headache they can potentially cost us a lot of revenue, resources and money if things get defined incorrectly and used in AAM or Target.
Please have Analysis Workspace clean up after itself.
How can I create hourly comparison charts and graphs in workspace? If I pull two different time periods (for example today and yesterday) and want to view the change in visits by hour, how can I pull this? When i pull the hours dimension it contains the date and time, and does not allow me to compare 12pm today vs 12pm yesterday unless i grab the raw numbers themselves. I cant create a segment around numbers, and since the hours dimension is shown that way, I also cannot graph the data in workspace.
It seems like such a simple feature that im amazed its not easier to create...
I have a derived metric to display the percentage of visits that meet condition "x". It is set up to be viewed as a percent. It works perfectly in the freeform table.
When I drop it into a bar chart it will only values as either "1" or "0" and am having issues with having the legend at 0.
I am trying to use this comparison as a baseline for my daily site check. Does anyone know how to create a segment that displays (Avg (same last four days)) -
Current date Monday / AVG "last four mondays" > (Monday1, Monday 2, Monday , Monday4 )/4)
Ideally, i would like to see a calculated metric that displasy the percentage change between current day and the baseline shown above (also the "up to the hour" capability will be needed to have a fair comparison.

Cohort analysis seems really powerful, but the implementation is a bit confusing.
Case in point: I want to examine the behavior of my Facebook visitors from February and see if they come back at all over the next 5 months.
So simple trigger, follow is just a "visit"
When I apply a visit-based segment (ref. domain = facebook), I get fewer original cohorts than when I make the same segment visitOR based.
That seems to indicate that it's counting you in my visitOR group even if you didn't come from Facebook in February but did in one of the subsequent months. That's not what I want.
When I use the visit-based version, are my future-month cohort revisits only counted when they, too, are from Facebook referrals? Also not what I want.
I want people who came to me from Facebook in February and returned -- with or without FB-referral -- in the subsequent months.
Here's a look at sample data showing the variance.
Is there a way to export ALL pages of a Workspace report at one time? The only way I can see to export is via Project ---> Download to csv, but that only downloads one page at a time for a given report. I then have to come back into Workspace, click on the next page of the report, and then download again. This is really frustrating when I have multiple reports and they each have multiple pages. There has to be an easier way, right???
Currently, only hover over, the axis, or displaying the data source to gives a reference for the values shown in the graphs. Can the graphs have an option to plot the number on the graph so that in print view of the workspace the numbers are visible on the graph itself?
We would like to hear your experience of using the Adobe Analytics product. Feel free to post your feedback on this post and we would make your voice heard.
I cannot seem to figure out how to trend year over year by month in the workspace. I'm just trying to get our key metrics (unique visitors, visits) for this year to date by month and then how that compares to last year the same time. Should I just do two freeform tables next to each other? seems odd that this is not an easy option unless I am completely missing it.
UPDATE: based on a post I discovered by accident from November it sounds like this is still on the docket for improvements. I'm kind of shocked it was pushed without this. I really thought I was just missing something.
Yesterday deleted old RB 4.7 and installed latest RB 5.2.10.
When I try to create a new request it says "Queued, Retrieving data", then produces pop-up screen "An error occurred." (see attached image), and does not produce anything. Gets stuck on "Retrieving data", then I have to close excel.
When I try to refresh existing request, it keeps popping up "please exit the Excel Cell with focus before using this feature" window. (see attached image)

Can I export more than 50,000 lines of data from SiteCat or I have to breakdown reports
