Make room for IoT. It’s a necessary step to moving any business forward.
What can the world expect from IoT technology in the upcoming year? IoT
implementations that bring in new revenue streams and deliver real-time
business insights. We’ll see a rising trend in the intersect of
virtualization and IoT.
As the number of connected things continues to rise, it has been projected to

Tune into: Ecosystem Platforms
During 2016 cloud computing celebrated its tenth anniversary. Therefore, at
the beginning of 2017, we’ll briefly look at what the next decade may
bring. Also this brings to a close the version of Tune into the Cloud that
was published monthly in the Dutch print publication Cloudworks, the magazine
where we started this series.
On your tenth birthday, as fresh teenager, you’re normally not yet an
adolescent – a.k.a, a beginning adult – and you may not be seated at the
adult table yet. But there are exceptions. Sometimes things just move faster.
Just look at a Max Verstappen, our Dutch Formula 1 phenomenon who – by
literally going faster – now starts standard from the front of the grid.
And also the cloud has maneuvered itself in pole position for the 2017 race,
with more and more “fans” who go for a ‘cloud first’, an ‘all-in

The IoT and Next-Generation Monitoring Challenges
By Zachary Flower
We're living in the future.
Thanks to the Internet of Things (IoT), our world is more automated and
connected than ever before. Just about everything, from cars to
refrigerators, to coffee machines, has the ability to connect to the
Internet, allowing us to micromanage each individual device. This type of
automation is an exciting direction for the world to be moving in and the
benefits it brings to businesses are huge.
Optimizing Processes
A great example of a traditionally non-networked company using IoT to make
smarter decisions is Rolls-Royce. By integrating networked sensors into their
aircraft engines, Rolls-Royce can send engine data back to monitoring
stations on the ground and stay ahead of the curve on everything from
performance to malfunctions. In a nutshell, they've created their own ver... (more)

The widespread success of cloud computing is driving the DevOps revolution in
enterprise IT. Now as never before, development teams must communicate and
collaborate in a dynamic, 24/7/365 environment. There is no time to wait for
long development cycles that produce software that is obsolete at launch.
DevOps may be disruptive, but it is essential.

DevOps - Operations Pain in Data Management
Updating DevOps to the latest production data slows down your development
cycle. Probably it is due to slow, inefficient conventional storage and
associated copy data management practices.
In his session at @DevOpsSummit at 20th Cloud Expo, Dhiraj Sehgal, in Product

As organizations realize the scope of the Internet of Things, gaining key
insights from Big Data, through the use of advanced analytics, becomes
crucial.
However, IoT also creates the need for petabyte scale storage of data from
millions of devices. A new type of Storage is required which seamlessly
integrates robust data analytics with massive scale. These storage systems
will act as "smart systems" provide in-place analytics that speed discovery
and enable businesses to quickly derive meaningful and actionable insights.
In his session at @ThingsExpo, Paul Turner, Chief Marketing Officer at

Five Reasons Synthetic Monitoring Is More Important than Ever
By Dennis Callaghan
This post originally appeared as a bylined article in Website Magazine.
Synthetic monitoring is hardly a new technology. It’s been around almost as
long as the commercial World Wide Web has. But the importance of monitoring
the performance and availability of a web application by simulating users’
interactions with that application, from around the globe, has never been
more important. We’ve seen prominent vendors in the broad APM space add
this technology with new development or partnerships just in the last 18
months.
Let’s take a look at some of the reasons this technology, more than 20
years old now, is not only more relevant than ever but vital to the success
of digital businesses:
It’s predictive

Bridging Legacy Voice Applications with WebRTC and the Cloud
Fact is, enterprises have significant legacy voice infrastructure that's
costly to replace with pure IP solutions. How can we bring this analog
infrastructure into our shiny new cloud applications? There are proven
methods to bind both legacy voice applications and traditional PSTN audio
into cloud-based applications and services at a carrier scale. Some of the
most successful implementations leverage WebRTC, WebSockets, SIP and other
open source technologies.
