    Check it out! Made my first solo non-line/bar/pie chart in R; a parallel coordinates plot (using ggplot and geom_line()). Read in the data, reshaped it, and modified the various graph defaults. Could not have done this without this week's training with .

    With respect to (incredibly awesome) instruction, I think the thing I valued most was being shown how to do something, then try to do it on my own, but then being immediately helped when I got stuck.

    The environmental impacts of public transportation are about more than current GHG divided by users. Good policy promotes good land use which is basically everything. Why aren't suburban bus routes green? Because the land use is terrible and service fails ridership.

    The piece acts as if public transportation is subsidized and car use is not. Ha! Direct and indirect subsidies for driving, parking, and suburbanization are significant. Tough to estimate, but I guess these outweigh transportation subsidies by a nontrivial margin.

    Low public transpo rates are the result of terrible land use and transportation policy. Most Americans live in places where public policy promotes/demands car dependence. The average American doesn’t even have the ability to reveal his or her preference for walking/biking/transit
