Pokemon Go Is Now A Near-1-Star App

Fame, you fickle friend. Pokemon Go is now below 2 stars on the app store. Fans are pissed about the removal of the footprint-based tracking mechanism and the closure of some Pokemon tracking websites.

Anyone who has played the website knows that the footprint tracking system never worked. You could be hunting one of the nine Pokemon on your list, never find it, but instead find some seemingly random other Pokemon that just show up.

I would wager that the real reason for the fury is that loss of the tracking websites. Unlike the footprints, they actually did work and were immensely popular with the biggest Pokefans. They made a game that was exciting but really not all that fun a little bit more exciting and a lot more fun. Instead of wandering around in a circle for twenty minutes only to come up empty handed, you could actually set out and catch the Pokemon you were hunting.

With both options now gone, we are forced to wander more than we originally were. And while, yes, the intent of the game is to get us on our feet and moving around, that shouldn't mean ten miles of aimless rambling just to get one Snorlax.
