Another #SOTD review, this time for the shaving range from +Men Rock Shaving

We got to try out the Sicilian Lime and Sandalwood scented creams, along with the Men Rock Badger Hair Brush.

The Brush itself took quite a long time to prepare for shaving. When I initially wetted it, the smell was quite overpowering. With grim determination and a certain nose-blindness by choice we got there. It did take several passes of shampoo, hair conditioner, strongly scented shaving creams and soaking to get to a point I was happy to shave with it.

The sandalwood shaving cream is very lightly scented, which is great if that is what you are after, but I felt it could do with a bit more fragrance of offset the sweet smell of the other ingredients.

The winner of the day , though is the Sicilian Lime Shaving Cream, which has a delightful citrus note, and whips into a cream very easily. So much so I had to water it down a tad to make it slick enough for a good shave.

One downside with the cream is that the lather does dry out, so a slower shave with a straight razor will require some judicious re-application to ensure a smooth glide and close, nick-free shave.

The Brush works very well, once the odour is killed off and, combined with the Sicilian Lime cream was a very pleasant shave.

Yet Another RazorGuy Shave

Yet another RazorGuy shave. This is how I call my shaves when I use the homemade shave products I make as a hobby and for fun. I must say I can't stop using my newest Mastro Livi Club Shave Brush 2016 Edition because I like it very much! This shave brush, which can be ordered until 31 December 2016, has a super luxurious super silvertip badger loft and a beautiful handle which perfectly fits in my hand. Very balanced and with the right weight, it is a joy to use. As for the razor, I wanted to use this Mastro Livi "Perugia 13.12.14", a straight razor Mastro Livi made in occasion of the event held in his laboratory at the end of the 2014. I am one of the few lucky persons to have this beautiful straight razor. The final touch has been provided by my Bay Rum aftershave, a fragrance I really like.

The Italian Shave

Sometimes I like to shave with Italian shaving products only. This Sunday was one of those times and for the occasion I used my homemade shave products, an Omega brush and a Mastro Livi straight razor. The pre-shave oil, shaving cream and aftershave were all made by me at home and I am sure many of you know I like to make my own shaving stuff at home as a hobby. I like experimenting and to test new recipes, something I am doing since more than ten years now. I believe shaving with your homemade products adds extra pleasure to the pleasure of shaving, a rite made of small however big things, something you slowly savor while avoiding the frenzy of our modern times. The shave was absolutely special thanks to the super smoothness of this Mastro Livi Stripes CarboInox straight razor, a superb BBS shave!

Snake Shave

I am absolutely crazy for this masterpiece. This Mastro Livi CarboInox Snake razor is not only a super shaver, but it is also an incredible work of art. The Snake Razor was conceived by Mastro Livi and his son in 2007 and this one is very special. The blade is made from Mastro Livi CarboInox with carbon damascus steel dots inserts, shaded buckeye scales with onyx and white turquoise inserts, a stunning beauty to look at, an incredible smooth shaver giving the very best BBS shave ever! Today I wanted to use Antica Barbieria Colla Almond Oil Shaving Cream, a superlative shaving cream certainly one of the very best shaving soaps around giving a super slick and effective lather with an incredible post shave sensation. A special mention to Mastro Livi Super Silvertip Badger Shave Brush, a great caressing massage on the skin which easily mounted Colla shaving cream into a luxurious lather. The final touch was delivered by Pinaud Clubman Virgin Island Bay Rum aftershave with its "bay rum like" fragrance and I admit I don't like it very much, although good, I like a more genuine and authentic "Bay Rum" fragrance.

Of course, the inauguration of this awesome brush had to be with his "club brother straight razor" and I could not make a better choice.
