Dish of the month: Hévéa CaféFusion restaurant Hévéa Café, which can be found at Al A’ali Shopping Complex, might have escaped your notice. But it shouldn’t have.
Or at least it shouldn’t anymore, as the team have recently introduced four
#new offerings: a whopping 27 new
#pastry dishes, a fresh menu of sweet and savoury creations, a cake-to-go service and an afternoon tea.
The team, lead by head
#chef and general manager Guy Gateau (you can’t make this stuff up), has certainly been busy. Especially since Chef Anton Vijith joined them. Vijith is the specialised pastry chef who introduced all of these new desserts and arrives with more than 13 years of experience, from across the world, and, clearly, a wealth of imaginative, sugary inventions.
Usually, Hévéa Café is known for fusing
#Indo-Chinese dishes with French techniques and Middle Eastern influences. And many of the pastries attempt to be a reflection of this innovation, offering unique takes on familiar desserts such as the Paris-Brest (one of France’s oldest, most traditional pastries), Floating Island (think: steamed meringue floating on a bed of custard) and the mille-feuille (meaning “a thousand leaves”).
What has caught our eye, however, is the
#beautiful and locally inspired Hévéa Cake, which features two discs of pistachio cake sandwiched with a light buttercream and then topped with mixed fresh berries.
Whether you’re a lover of fusion cuisine or you’re more of a traditionalist, you’re bound to find something to tempt you here.
