What exactly has Macron enforced from his numerous demands, especially the ones going against Merkel's position? Lots of posture, no policy. Everything ended in compromise including on things where he truly had the upper hand such as Nord Stream 2. U.S.

Also a reminder that Hertha's fluffy predecessor, Knut, dropped dead in front of visitors after some 3 1/2 years of being a global celebrity. His was then stuffed and exhibited in a museum, complete with glass eyes.

Not endless though, but finite. The thinking is that giving a date say 12 months from now will allow everyone to put their feet up until 5 mins before deadline. And frankly that fear has some root in the process so far
