People do understand that "favoring impeachment" doesn't entail an up-or-down vote to impeach held asap, right? It means a (probably quite lengthy) process of fact-finding, not only to clarify Mueller's findings but to go beyond the charge of his investigation.

Very very good point from , especially for those who think impeaching Trump will only *help* him with his base. So could doing *nothing* and fueling the ‘fake news’ and ‘hoax’ and ‘harassment’ Trumpian narratives.

"We should not treat an impeachment decision as a math problem...But even if we do the math, history suggests that it is too soon to count the votes." Good reminder that history shows folly of basing decision on fleeting politics of the moment:

Trump wins reelection in 2020, Republicans retain control of the Senate, and the abuse of power that has been documented in the Mueller report, his feed, and elsewhere end up being officially legitimated. /4

Failing to hold accountable for abusing power can help to bolster his Republican support going into 2020--with the base, with the rest of the party who tolerate him, and maybe with some independents who are pleased with the economy. /3

Columbine was 20 years ago, and yet we still haven’t taken meaningful action to stop gun violence. Enough is enough—we can't wait for progress. People are getting shot every day. It was time then, and it's time now.

There is never a “good” time to start impeachment. It is always risky and the political dynamics are never clear. The decision needs to be made when the House sees a tipping point of evidence revealing the abuse of power. It was risky in 1974, but Democrats made the right call.
