What It Is
Gap offers a credit card program known as the GapCard. This credit program is a great choice for those that frequently shop at the retailer because it offers great rewards, exclusive discounts, and several perks. Like most store credit cards it has a steep interest rate, so be sure to stay on top of payments.
Consumers can choose between two levels of GapCard. The first is the traditional GapCard, which can be used at Gap as well as other locations under the company's umbrella; these include Old Navy, Banana Republic, and Athleta. The second option is the Visa GapCard, which can be used anywhere the major credit card is accepted, gathering even more points.
How It Works
The GapCard works like all other store credit cards, allowing consumers to make purchases now and worry about payment later. In addition to this convenience, there are several other reasons to look into the credit card program.
Some exclusive benefits of the GapCard include extra points on purchases, a "10% Tuesday" at stores and online, special discounts on cardholders' birthdays, access to exclusive discounts and coupons, and receipt-optional returns. Those that earn 5,000 points in a calendar year qualify for the Gap Silver card. Shop During GapCash Periods
What GapCash Is
GapCash is an excellent program that Gap offers on a periodic basis. During the GapCash days, shoppers are able to earn exclusive coupons based on their purchase amounts in physical locations and at the web store.
How It Works
When customers shop during GapCash periods, $25 is earned for every $50 that is spent. Spending more yields larger coupons, with the ceiling being $125 when $250 is spent. These coupons are able to be used during a later GapCash event.
$25 coupons require a purchase of $50, $50 coupons require a purchase of $100, $75 coupons require a purchase of $150, and so on. If a customer has a higher denomination coupon (such as $75), there is not any requirement to spend the $150+ to use it. The larger coupon can be used for smaller purchases to get $25 or $50 off, but the shopper does forfeit the remaining value.

Most shoppers cannot redeem GapCash with any other rebates, discounts, or coupons. Gap Cardmembers on the other hand are able to use Rewards Cards, a first purchase discount, a 10% Tuesday discount, and a 10% Welcome Savings Pass.

Use the Price Adjustment Program
What It Is
Instead of pulling your hair out in frustration when you realize an item you recently bought just went on sale, take advantage of Gap's Price Adjustment program.
Many stores offer a "Price Match" program that meets competitors' prices. Unlike most retail stores, Gap only sells its own brand-name merchandise, so obviously this a non-issue. The store does offer a similar program that is known as the Price Adjustment Program.
When a customer discovers a recently-purchased item has gone on sale, the store offers a one-time only adjustment on the product. This offer is not valid on items purchased with a promo code or "final sale" items. When the store has determined that your purchase is eligible for a price adjustment, the difference will be refunded in the original payment form.
Insider Tip
After making a purchase at Gap, keep a close eye on the subsequent sales flyers. The Price Adjustment Program is only valid for 14 days after the item was purchased.
