We all know and love that feeling of applying a working coupon code that slashes 20% off our online shopping cart. Or when we actually find that Groupon for that particular blender we were looking to buy.
The problem is, finding coupons that actually work (when we need them) is a huge pain. Why do coupon sites post deals that have been expired for two years? Why are deal forums so cluttered and hard to navigate? As a team of technologists who do our fair share of online shopping, we decided to take on the challenge of solving these problems, and thus the idea for Dealspotr was born.
Our mission with Dealspotr is to create the world’s easiest, fastest, and most trustworthy tool for finding deals. Our goal is to list every valid deal for every store, brand, and mainstream product at any given time, and (importantly) filter out all the stuff that doesn’t work. To achieve this, we’re taking an open-source approach (think: Wikipedia) based on building a strong community of couponing enthusiasts working collaboratively to curate the world’s most complete and accurate database of deals.
Our community is our backbone, and we’ve designed our platform and business model to incorporate our community as the centerpiece. Part of our mission, in addition to making deals easy, is to make sharing deals and advice more rewarding for our members, both in terms of financial rewards as well as social rewards. We’ve developed a sophisticated system that measures how each community member performs in terms of saving shoppers money, and we in turn reward them (through e-gift cards) commensurate with their success. We also emphasize social connectivity on Dealspotr, offering a variety of ways for our members to connect with each other, keep up-to-date with their friends and followers, and gain recognition and visibility for being a great contributor.
We’re incredibly excited by the progress we’ve made in the few short months since our launch, and thrilled by the amazing community we’re seeing develop on Dealspotr. From casual shoppers who love deals, to well-known coupon bloggers, to expert price trackers - Dealspotr has the smartest, most engaged community of deal experts anywhere. And we’re just getting started - here’s just a sampling of some of the things we’re working on:
Simply awesome deal search. If you need a coupon, or the best price on a particular item, where do you start your search? Slickdeals? Retailmenot? Google? We’ve tried them all, and each leaves a lot to be desired. We’re working on building a next-generation search engine that actually makes it super easy to find, with confidence, the best deal for whatever you’re looking for. In a nutshell, we want to be your starting point to search for deals.
Your social feed for deals. Facebook is your feed for friends, Instagram is your feed for photos, Pinterest is your feed for interests. We want to make Dealspotr your feed for deals. If you love saving money, we want to give you the best news feed that highlights the best deals each day, personalized for you.
Improved messaging tools. One of the most often requested features from our members is better messaging. We have an exciting set of features in development to make it easier than ever to connect and communicate with other members on Dealspotr.
Do you love deals? Do you love helping other people save money? Then join us today, we’d love to have you in our community.
