I believe a nurse should be as highly educated as they can, and should be encouraged to push themselves. Nursing is a science.

  5. We have a pulse! Good job everyone

  6. And here we go... Chest compression and breaths. 30 good compressions, 2 per second, 5 cm depth followed by 2 breaths... And repeat!

  7. Its ABCDE assessment time! ... I wonder if the mannequin will deteriorate in at a cardiac arrest..? In a BLS class..? I think it will!

Remember good communication skills are of high importance to patients. Keep calm, you're doing great. 👍

Personally... I believe nurses are scientists. They need to be proficient in anatomy, physiology, psychology, sociology, chemistry etc.

  14. Great advice for our new doctors! I will nip out to the wards this afternoon and see a few of them. Check they are OK 👍

  15. There is always a debate about nurse training and the level we should be trained at. What do you think? Are nurses scientists or vocational?

  16. I am a strong believer in 'those who work together should train together'

  17. As a nurse working in medical education, I find it rewarding to blur the boundaries between uni-professional and interprofessional teaching

Listen to the patient esp if we have conditions you're not familiar with. We prefer questions rather than guesswork😊

  19. I have Basic Life Support training at lunch time. Mandatory training updates whilst its quiet with school holidays. Not much teaching today

  20. first things first... Respond to emails this morning. Neglected my office work so far this week.
