I'm being told that this is funny... but so far all I want to do is gather David Sedaris into my arms and rock him back and forth and tell him everything is okay.
Okay, finished. Is it really supposed to be funny? I found myself pretty saddened by most of the stories. He's got a great writing style and I definitely felt pulled into each of the stories, but I think I felt more empathetic than anything.

Maybe part of my problem with the book is that I first read the back cover, which told me two things that I didn't find to be true:
1. This book is side-splittingly hilarious
2. It turns the "mania for memoir on its proverbial ear."

Let's start off with the cover. Magnificence. In hardback the shorts are adjustable, and if you pull them up over the title you will see an x-ray of legs. I assume, since Mr. Sedaris is so willing to sacrifice himself at the altar of humor, that those thin white bones are his own. Genius.

داستان ها اونقدر صادقانه نوشته شده که وقتی کتاب رو می خونید کاملا احساس می کنید که یه دوست صمیمی داره با بیانی طنزآمیز از خاطراتش در مورد خانواده، دوستانش ،دوران دانشجویی و سفرهاش براتون تعریف می کنه.کتاب شامل 11 داستانه که ظاهرا در ترجمه چند داستان از نسخه اصلی به دلیل اشاره به تمایلات همجنسگرایانه "سداریس" حذف شده، شاید حذف این داستان ها به کیفیت کتاب لطمه زده باشه چون کتاب رو برای من که تجربه خوندن "بالاخره یک روز قشنگ حرف می زنم" رو از سداریس داشتم در سطح پایین تری قرار میده
اين دومين کتابيه که از سداريس با ترجمه پيمان خاکسار ميخونم و برعکس يکي دو نفر از دوستان به نظرم ترجمه خوبي هم داره ،البته هنوز ترحمه هاي ديگه اي نديدم ولي بايد گفت اين کتاب و همچنبن کتاب قبلي رو نبايد با رمان يا مجموعه داستان کوتاه يکي دونست ،به نظر مياد اينها شبه خاطراتي هستند که ممکنه در زندگي همه ماها پيش بياد ولي هنر واقعي اينه که بتونيم همين اتفاقات به ظاهر ساده را با زباني شيرين خوندني کنيم و سداريس تو اين زمينه واقعا به نظرم استاده،از اون کتابهايي ست که موقع خوندنش چندين بار با صداي بلند

مثه داستانای سلینجر یه جور ارتباط بین چند تا داستان کوتاه احساس میکردم، شایدم احساسم بیخود بود:))
کتاب رو با یک طنز بسیار خوب شروع کردم و انتظار ادامه همون رو تا انتها داشتم، اما خوب در داستانهای بعد طنزش تلطیف و جاهایی حتی محو شد .

طنز بود و واقعا هم بود. این که کتابی باعث شود در حین خواندنش لبخند به لب بیاوردی و حتی از آن هم بیشتر، خنده های بی صدا بکنی تا در مترو و مکانهای عمومی مزاحم بقیه نشوی برای من به معنی یک کتاب خوشایند و دلچسب است.

اولین بار با سداریس توی همشهری داستان آشناشدم .طنزی صمیمی که آدم رو با خودش همراه می برد .توی این مجموعه هم داستان اولش یعنی طاعون تیک همین طور بود تا بقیه ذاستانها بخصوص خود داستان مادربزرگت رو از این جاببر.پدر ومادر بامزه هم دارد بخصوص مادرش
سداریس رو با کتاب «بالاخره یه روزی قشنگ حرف می زنم» شناختم. کتابی که تو روزهای تلخی که می خوندمش، خنده های بلند برام به همراه داشت. براساس اون تجربه، انتظار بیشتری از این کتاب داشتم، اما خب، این کتاب به خودی خود کتاب خوبی بود . اگرچه شیرینی های کتاب قبل رو برام نداشت .

Ας βγάλουμε κάτι από τη μέση: αγαπώ τον David Sedaris. Βρίσκω πραγματικά αστεία τα αστεία του και με πιάνει κάτι με τα όσα αυτοβιογραφικά διηγείται. Το Me Talk Pretty One Day μου άρεσε πολύ και το Holidays on Ice είναι ένα από τα καλύτερα Χριστουγεννιάτικα βιβλία που υπάρχουν*, κι εγώ αν ξέρω ένα πράγμα αυτό είναι τα Χριστουγεννιάτικα βιβλία.

خاطراتی است که به فرم داستان نوشته شده. خوشخوان و دوست داشتنی.
تو خوندن کل کتاب داشتم فکر میکردم نویسندههای کشورهای دیگه و یا شهرهای بزرگ کشور خودمون چقدر ممکنه زندگی ماجراجویی و اتفاق داشته تو زندگیشون.حرفی که امروز هم با دوستم پیش اومد؛ این که مثلا من اگه بخوام چیزی از زندگی خودم تعریف کنم تو یک صفحه خلاصه میشه.
با پیشفرض بدبینانهای کتاب رو خوندم. ولی الان ازش راضیام.
برخلاف چیزی که شنیدم، نوشتهها طنز نیست. فقط تشبیههایی که به کار برده بامزه است که کمی از زهر درونمایهی حرفاشو میگیره. ...more

نمیدونم چرا از اول نسبت به ترجمه ی کتاب خوشبین نبودم وقتی متن اصلی رو دیدم فهمیدم ترجمه خوبه اما یه مشکل خیلی بزرگ هست،کتاب اصلی داستان داره و ترجمه داستان!

Sometimes I finish a book that feels good despite some of the uncomfortable things I found among the pages. Naked is the opposite, for despite the humor and insight I wanted to rub many of the passages out of my memory. I can't, and I cannot recommend the book. It was an exercise of wading through too much waste for too little worth.

This wonderfully amusing book took me by surprise. Each chapter is a short memoir of David Sedaris' childhood, filled with some unusual adventures, from hitch hiking with a paraplegic to having servants wax your change. تقریبا عالی بود.شبیه سلینجر روایت می کرد .یک خانواده ی پرجمعیت با اصالت یونانی و مادری آمریکایی که در مجموع کلا به خودش و بچه ها سخت نمی گیره.نحوه ی روایت بسیار دلنشین،خوشخوان و جذاب بود.خنده های عمیقش در حین خوندن گاهی مجموعه ی زندگی رو در یک لحظه به شکلی احمقانه ولی به بهترین نحو توصیف می کنه.
I enjoyed this book more in the beginning than I did toward the end. At first it was entertaining to read about all of Sedaris's mishaps and "woe is me" type of moments, but that theme got too repetitive (for me) and eventually I just wasn't impressed anymore. Naked is my first exposure to the humor of David Sedaris, and not only did I enjoy it, I will definitely read more by him. The comedic memoir is a collection of short stories from his childhood through his adulthood, including his experiences with OCD, the death of his mother, and coming out. I can't say that I can relate to his tales, but I experienced many laugh out loud moments. One of the more hilarious chapters chronicles the time he spent in a nudist colony. کتاب باحالی بود، بعضی جاهاش خیلیییی خنده دار بود، خوندنش تو کتاب خونه خیلی کار سختیه،اصلا توصیه نمی کنم! بهترین داستانش هم همون اولیشه، طاعون تیک.البته تازگی فهمیدم که در نهایت نامردی 7 داستان از این کتاب حذف شده به خاطر اشاراتی که به هم جنس گرا بودن نویسنده داشته. از داستان مربوط به مادربزرگش خوشم نیومد،خیلی با تمسخر راجع بهش حرف زده و کلا یونانی ها رو ترکونده. ولی در کل کتاب باحالیه،مخصوصا اگه بی حال و حوصله و غمگین باشین این کتاب تاثیر خوبی رو روحیتون میذاره.
کلا با نوشته های سداریس خوب ارتباط برقرار نمیکنم، چیز ملموسی برای من نداره، داستانها هم علاوه بر چیزی که گفته میشه طنز هستن ولی جز یک یا دوتا داستان درونمایه طنزی وجود نداشت، بیشتر هجویات بود.
