[close] This group exists for all those interested in the evolving fields of Energy Psychology and Emotional Intelligence. WHAT IS ENERGY PSYCHOLOGY? Using an explanation taken from the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology (ACEP - www.energypsych.site-ym.com), Energy psychology (EP) is term used to describe a collection of mind-body approaches for understanding and improving human functioning. EP focuses on the relationship between thoughts, emotions, sensations, and behaviours, and known bioenergy systems (such as meridians and the biofield). These systems and processes exist, and interact, within individuals and between people. They are also influenced by cultural and environmental factors. In the clinical world, EP models have been beneficially applied to assessment and treatment of trauma, anxiety, depression, pain, stress, psychophysiological issues, and self-sabotaging behaviours by a broad range of healthcare providers, to regulate affect and promote emotional and physical health. Treatment results have been shown to be enduring and relatively rapid. In the coaching and performance world, EP models have been beneficially applied in many areas of performance enhancement including sports, education, business, and lifestyle issues related to weight management, relationships, and finance. WHAT DO WE MEAN BY EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE? Using an explanation taken from Six Seconds, The Emotional Intelligence Network (www.6seconds.org) it is believed that emotions are valuable signals that help us survive and thrive. When we learn how to use them, emotions help us make more effective decisions, connect with others, find and follow purpose — and lead a more whole-hearted life. In simple terms, “emotional intelligence” just means being smarter with feelings. It’s about putting together the rational and emotional so you can move forward effectively. NOTE: This Energy Psychology and Emotional Intelligence Goodreads group has been conceived and formed independently from ACEP and Six Seconds.
