Android Pay is the simple and safe way to pay with your Android phone at over one million store locations across the US (and soon in apps). To set it up, just add your credit and debit cards. When you're ready to pay, simply unlock your phone, hold it near a contactless terminal, and you're good to go. You don't even need to open the app.

Setup is simple
Install Android Pay on any NFC-enabled Android device (KitKat 4.4+). Then add your credit and debit cards from any participating bank. You can view the full list here: https://goo.gl/inQlgf. Android Pay works with cards from many of the most popular US banks, including: American Express, Bank of America, Citi, Discover, Navy Federal Credit Union, PNC, Regions Bank, USAA, U.S. Bank and Wells Fargo - with Capital One coming soon.

Get security on the go
Your actual card number isn't shared with the merchant when you use Android Pay. Instead, a virtual account number is used so that your card details stay safe. After paying, you'll receive transaction details to help you keep track of your spending activity.

Since your phone can be used to pay when it's unlocked, Android Pay requires you to have a screen lock set up. And if your phone is ever lost or stolen, you can lock your device from anywhere using https://myaccount.google.com.

To best protect your info, Android Pay isn't supported on rooted devices. This is because Google can't verify that the Android security model is intact on a rooted device.

Earn rewards and save
You can use Android Pay to store gift cards, loyalty cards, and offers. When using credit and debit cards from participating banks with Android Pay, you'll earn the same points and rewards that you do when swiping those cards.

Doesn't let me add cards Every time I try and add card, it tells me it can't be added. I have one of the banks listed, so I don't know what's going on. 3 stars for letting me add gift cards.

Doesn't work for me For some reason they decided to ditch material design (again). Anyway, it doesn't work for me. When I try to add a card it tells me it can't be verified that my device is an android. LG G3 running rom based on CM12.1

Can't add cards I've tried adding a couple cards, but i keep getting the error that says "android pay cannot be used on this device," except this is a supported device! I've tried it on my Nexus 5 and brand new 5x, which are officially supported. WTF!?

Can't keep up with newer phones Had old phone (Xperia Z3) that it worked with then got new phone (Xperia Z5 Premium) and it says it can't confirm that my device or the device software is android compatible. So I guess my Android 5.1.1 device is not android compatible...

Does not really work with USAA I try to add my Mastercard USAA but it says that my card is incompatible with the app. The app says it support USAA, but really, it does not. Sorry Google, I will give more stars once you fix this.

Can't Add New Cards Network Error Not sure what changed but I can no longer add a new card. Every time I try I'm getting a Network Error message. Tried deleting cache, resetting data, rebooting but nothing seems to work.

Forces me to reenter my PIN Even though my phone is unlocked when I tap to pay it re-locks and tells me to unlock my phone again. Motorola Nexus 6. Google support said it would be fixed in the next update. Just updated and it is still doing it. WTF Google?

Unsupported common cards I can't add my card. Google says it is supported, but citi says it is not. And it is not. If you have a master card co branded with American airlines advantage from citi, this app won't work. You can't add it.

Can't add more gift cards I just found out with their customer representative that there is a limit about how many gift cards you can add to the app. So here are the details: 1. 30 gift cards per year; 2. They won't show you how many cards you have added and even if you delete a card from the app, it doesn't allow you to add more cards either; 3. Per year term means from the first day you start adding the first card and if you forget the date they can't find it out either and you don't know when you can add new cards.

If you cant add card read this Yea the add card sucks on the app. But to overcome this simply go to the google play store. Go to your payment methods and add another payment there. After you save it; it will be saved on your google. Then go back to the app and click add payment and the card you just added should already be present. Then it just asks you to re-enter the security code on the back. But for me it doesnt matter because it wont take chase cards which like half of the world has.... it is a visa btw.

All around fail Tried adding three cards and 0 for 3, including usaa whose website doesn't work from the phone browser. This is a non-starter until Google can get the banks on board.

Find an alternative - Android Pay does not work for me. I have been using Google Wallet from the first version until now. How can you replace a working app with one that doesn't work? There is no solution for this... I advise everyone to stay away from Android Pay

Doesn't support my bank. I have chase bank. When i try to add my card, it prompts me to a error message telling me that my bank doesnt support this app. Try to fix. I would really like to use this app.

Why tie it to the pin screen lock???? the app itself should have its on PIN lock rather than forcing the user to use the PIN for the entire device. Previous Google wallet version had this flexibility. Doesn't accept CHASE bank cards because eof banking relationship with Android pay Even though the card is a Visa Signature as listed as compatible with Android Pay

Can't add a new debit card Can't add a new debit card that is not supported. My old one was with Chase and was supported but now my new one isn't supported but still is with Chase! What!!! 0 stars...

With Android Pay, we made it easy to tap & pay without opening the app. To keep your cards secure, we require you to a add a screen lock. We received feedback from Google Wallet users that it was inconvenient to have to enter 2 PINs to use Google Wallet (Android device lock and wallet app), hence we reduced it to 1 unlock in Android Pay.

I've tried adding my cards; said they are not supported so I can't use the app anyway. Why have it available if it can't be used; appears many, many others have the same issue.

Would love to use it... ...But it still doesn't support rooted devices, and according to XDA, who quoted a Google representative, it may never support a rooted device with a custom ROM due to implementation issues (Wallet used virtual cards, Pay uses tokens). I'll update my review if I ever switch back to stock.

Wow! This app is amazing. I was able to pay at many places with tap and pay. I was only disappointed by the limit in places to use it. The gap disabled tap and pay and the CVS doesn't support it anymore. Adding gift cards and credit cards was very easy.

Well, I guess the only good thing I have to say about splitting Google wallet into two applications is that it's one of Google's few failures. Making two applications do the job of one, making the new app have more bugs, and making it so the new app supports fewer credit card companies? What was Google thinking with this one? Oh well. Hopefully they read the mass of comments and sort it out! They're usually pretty receptive to customers.

Wrecked app with lock function Seemed like a well designed pay app, but then it requires password enabled screenlock at all times or it will erase your card number. The password or fingerprint requirement needs to activate when using app only. Do the monkeys over there expect everyone to want an extra process to do before using there phone on a regular basis? The answer is no, and it is a dealbreaker. Fix it for 5 stars, or it will fail. Merry Christmas.

Pain in the A$$ Requires you to use a password to unlock screen. This is annoying. If you already use one, then you won't have an issue. The level of security on my phone should be my choice, not Android's. I wont be using this app anymore.

Android Pay is worthless to me. Google Wallet worked great for tap & pay, but since "upgrading" to Android pay, my phone freezes about 70% of the time when I try to use it and I have to hard reset. Occasionally, when I reboot the phone, my settings have somehow been corrupted and I have to restore some settings and re-do my home screens.

Not available Google is not Apple and therefore doesn't have the capacity or ability to offer products on a global scale, until it's too late, and they once again miss the opportunity to build a worthwhile client list at the start. Come on Google, get your act together, learn from your mistakes, this is a big world, bigger than just the USA.

Great.. Súper fast. I wish there's more locations accepting it. If you are having trouble adding a card even if the bank is listed which happened to me: My Citibank C Card can NOT be used, so I called Citibank and they said unless you have a Samsung phone can't be used, Lame. So I add another card. I have a nexus.

*Update* Seems to work now (OnePlus One - stock) —Just went to try it, app froze, then crashed my phone. Wallet of old never failed me (10/3/2015) —Now it also randomly hangs and crashes my phone just opening the app. Trying a clean install didn't help. This isn't going very well (10/4/2015) —Still crashing my phone when I try to pay, this app sucks (10/7/2015) —Works now, I think because more businesses are upgrading their hardware, also some ROM updates (11/20/2015)

Need alias names Need an option to set a nickname or alias. I have two cards from the same bank and the only way to distinguish between them is the last four digits if I could remember it.

Input screen pattern twice Q. Why do I have to enter my pattern again when using Android Pay? The phone was already unlocked by using the pattern. Answer: After extensive testing, I have been able to determine the reason some users must enter the screen lock, pin, or pattern (even though phone is already unlocked) is due to "Smart Lock" on Lollipop. Android Pay is not compatible with "Smart Lock" as it does not recognize that the phone is not currently unlocked, causing Android Pay to prompt the user again. Please repair this issue.

Broken Says "card isn't supported by Android Pay" when I try to add it. My son has the exact same cards added to his Android Pay account without issue. Only difference is his cards have his name on them. Seems broken for me. Can't add any cards (tried 7).

Unsafe How can you trust an app like this? One day a hacker will hack this app and them you all will get a notification saying your private info has been breached we apologize and will let you know if your info has been taken... Well obviously it jas because they just hack into their 'secured' program and took everyone's credit card info. T-Mobile was recently hacked
